Default It's been fun....

Well guys the time has come to say goodbye to California. I got orders to Scott AFB Illinois I knew this day would come when I got orders out of the state. I've been here 12 years and this was my first assignment way back in 2002. I'm going to miss it here. I like to think I did some good. Started a Ducks Unlimited chapter that I hope continues to thrive and made a difference in some of your lives I'm hoping. Here are just a few memories I'd like to share....

My biggest Sturgeon...

Bass...

Biggest turkey..

Family Turkey hunt

Wife's First bird

Sac hunt with my old mentor...

Anyhow....I'm gonna miss you all very much and I will definitely check in from time to time.

Good luck with the anti's and I hope California remains a great place to hunt.

TaperX, Lew, Pie.....it's been great getting to know you guys on here....continue with the good info and wish you guys the best..

Newbshooter...keep that kiddo in the field...I can't wait until my daughter is at that age. It was fun and wish we could have gotten together more.

I just want to say this in all sincerity...I've belonged to a lot of forums and this forum is the best out of them all....genuine people that will give information and be forthcoming and honest. I like this place the best.

You are not getting off that easy!! This is the interwebz!! No reason to say "so long" We want fresh kill pics from Illinois.

If the hunting is any good there, i may just fly out and join you.

Good luck with your new base, it kinda sucks to move but i will have to see where Scott is.

Wow you are smack dab mid west!!! Even a a New Yorker living in CA is one thing but going to the interior midwest will be a culture shock. LOL They is gonna think you is a liberal hunter. LMAO!!

Well I still hope you check in with some of your kills from back there. For being here only 12 years you sure did a hell of a job networking and learning the hunting out here. You know a lot about hunting/fishing, you will be missed.

Oh man, going Obama on us! Your doomed to become a self hating animal lover. I'm sure there'll be some good hunting there.
Like Taperxz said, you'll always have the internet.

LOL...I was thinking about auctioning off all my maps and honey holes I've found through the years. I wonder how much they are worth to people....my biggest secrets are striper holes and public duck hunting areas. Whats funny is the striper holes...you're only a few hundred yards from people fishing elbow to elbow for maybe one bite. I can catch 2 10 plus lber's in 10 minutes throwing swim baits. I always sneak out with my fish...I've been caught a couple of times by the locals but I always cut the lures off my line and come out a weird direction so when they try getting info I can feed them a load of crap. My usual explanation is hot dogs on treble hooks in Nurse Slough. They are usually too confused to ask a follow up question. Also caught some of the biggest largemouth of my life in the same holes.

Bummer man but onward and upward.

Kinda funny story is that I had a cancellation and then last second opening for a pheasant hunt at my club and I was going to ask you and to bring your wife so she would get some shooting. I was trying to figure out how to get a hold of you and was on then realized it was your refuge hunting weekend with the buddy that came out. Guess it won't happen next year either.

Anyways Illinois has some giant white tails vs. A zone bambi's

We're not supposed to judge all Muslims by the acts of a few "crazies".
But the acts of a few American "crazies" is enough to judge all Americans who own guns.

Best of luck to you! I'm more of a casual reader than the sharing type on teh interwebs, but it has been very entertaining following your hunts and hearing about your fishing. Hope you are able to find some great spots around your new home base.

Cheers!

I believe you will be in/very near what is called the "Golden Triangle" area, for Whitetail. If you don't have one, invest in a quality tree stand & harness. Bow hunting this area is on my bucket list. Good luck with your move!
