Default AR butt stock Difference

I have noticed that there are 2 offerings for the AR butt stocks one is the military and the other is commercial, why is one desireable over the other, I just want to figure this out so I don't purchase the wrong type
Thanks

Just match the stock with whatever type of buffer tube you have, i.e. if your using a mil-spec buffer tube you'll want to get a mil-spec stock, same goes if you have a commercial spec buffer tube you'll want to get a commercial spec stock. There are a couple minor differences but the main one between them is the outer dimensions of the buffer tube and the commercial is slightly larger in diameter than the milspec and requires a commercial spec stock for proper fit.

A properly made milspec receiver extension is made from a forging.
Most commercial receiver extensions are made from extrusions.
Forgings are stronger.

Now, that does not mean that simply buying a milspec SIZE receiver extension is actually getting you a stronger piece because there are now milspec SIZED receiver extensions made from extrusions.
They offer none of the strength benefits of the properly made ones.

The threads on the Mil-Spec are rolled onto the tube.
The comercial tube has single pointed "turned" threads.
Typically rolled threads are stronger
