Miguel,
If all else fails, sacvalley.org/clubs, then look to see which clubs shoot the distances you are interested in. Go to a shoot and participate, or watch and maybe help spot to get an idea of part of the game. I doubt you will be unwelcome. You may find one or two primadonna's but, 95% of the people are cool. With the exception of trying to talk, spot and shoot at the same time, the vast majority of people are willing to assist. Maybe go to a steel silhouette shoot first for vintage or military gas guns and work on the distances up to 500 yds. |

You may want to keep an eye out for the next Long Range Clinic put on by NCPPRC (http://ncpprc.com/) at Sac Valley. You can always show up for practice and pay the range fee + $10 club fee. I'm sure there will be enough bodies out there that would be more than willing to give ya some pointers. If you haven't done so already, you may want to attend an Appleseed Clinic to pick up the basics. Last edited by Sky_DiveR; 12-10-2013 at 7:19 PM.. |

Bummer dude.
Do you have a high powered rifle to shoot long range? Do you know the basics (ie: position, breathing, etc)? If you're just beginning, look up an Appleseed event. You'll learn the basics of precision shooting out to 500 yards. Only costs $80 for the weekend (less if you pick up a Gift Cert on sale til 12/31). WWW.appleseedinfo.org As a matter of fact there's one for Dec 28 -29. Last edited by Sky_DiveR; 12-16-2013 at 7:12 PM.. |

An option would be to go to Rifles Only in Texas, or check out the Magpul Dynamics class up in Washington. I know several people who have attended one or both and they speak very highly.
Take a one week class at a reputable shool and then show up at an NCPPRC pracitce day first Saturday of the month at Sac Valley. At least a dozen guys there could run a class if they were "certified". Some of the best practical long range shooters in the county attend those practice days, and they are usually happy to help anyone who is willing to learn and has a positive attitude. The NCPPRC clinic is virtually day one of an expensive class - you even get 2 on 1 coaching for the line sessions. |

Just out of curiosity, what are you planning to get out of the training? Just tighter grouping, as you mentioned above, or the science and the art of LR shooting?
If all you're looking for is a tighter grouping, that can be remedied by joining a club and going over the fundamentals. |

What do you want to learn? Do you have the equipment and ammo necessary for long range? We will be shooting long range January 11 and mid range January 12 at Sac Valley. And we shoot long range almost every Tuesday of the year at Sac Valley. |

I attended one of the 3 X 600 shoots at Sac Valley, just to observe and see what it was all about. One of the guys took me under his wing and let me shoot after he was done and also showed me how the target scoring/marking works down in the pits. One of the other attendees let me shoot his Savage .308. Great group of people who are more than willing to help.

800+ yards. I didn't realize it was left unclear. I have a little free time and only a few hours a month outside of my home to shoot(new born boys). I am looking for one person to train Not a club since I stated not a lot of free time and need to get to the range and get home. I am a member at sac valley shooting center also and with my situation can't make it out to the classes. So I just prefer one on one with someone that can accommodate my schedule and know the background to longer range shooting.
Yes I have rifles, and ammo for a class. Last edited by MIGUEL RUVALCABA; 01-14-2014 at 9:37 AM.. Reason: Info |

Check out Dan Flowers, he is a guest instructor for LMS Defense and teaches precision rifle courses out at Sac Valley 1-3 times per year.
http://www.theballisticedge.com/default.php Unfortunately he's not scheduled to be out there until November. I've taken 2 classes with him and it's worth every penny. He's attended the past 2-3 customer appreciation weekends (1st wk of June) for LMS in Nevada and I'd expect him to be there this year as well to teach some small blocks of precision rifle fundamentals. http://www.lmsdefense.com/course-det...ata+Collection http://www.lmsdefense.com/course-det...cision+Carbine http://www.lmsdefense.com/course-det...cision+Rifle+1 |
