Default Looking for good price on 80% lowers and a South OC shop to complete them

Hello CalGuns!

So I want to do my first AR build and decided on an 80% lower as a starting point.

I'd like your advice on where to get a good price 80% lower with an integrated trigger guard, and more importantly a good South OC shop where I can complete the remaining 20%.

Looking forward to everyone's suggestions.

LOL, it looks like a Billet and has trigger guard built in.

Check your prices.

OP: try looking up online how to put together your own lower. I think Brownells has a free online guide. Buy a kit of lower parts instead of buying them separately, and then change out what you want later.

To me, unless you have specific requirements, if you pay someone to put together your lower, you might as well just buy a put together lower.

Don't forget to figure in the cost of a jig and a drill press unless you know someone who has both. Oh, and the cost of anodizing unless you like raw, unprotected aluminum.

I like little things like ambi safety, and anti-walk pins. (I do have more than that, but keep it simple until you figure what you want)

I prefer to stay away from the threaded pin setups so I can always count on using standard parts.

You can buy special tools to make the install easier but if you don't mind a few scratches (use tape around the bolt catch roll pin) you can do without but I did get an armorer's tool to use with the buffer tube installation.

Technically building the upper is easier but I prefer not to so I don't have to think about headspacing, but you can buy a tool to check that also.

There's a place in Irvine that sells an adjustable jig and I believe some decent looking 80's. I can't remember their name, but they don't advertise that much.

Riflegear tends to be my go-to place but they are frequently out of stock so if you're set on something specific, just ask when they expect a shipment and wait.

If you still insist on going to a shop there are four that I know if in South OC (I don't count Irvine as South OC) but I'm bad at names

OC Armory: They specialize in tactical stuff.

Saddleback: Adam is no longer there and I don't know the new AR-15 tech. Keep an eye on what they charge and do your homework so you know what to expect. I used to pick up 6.8 SPC ammo there because Adam made sure they stocked so he could shoot his 6.8 :P

BJ's place: (On the way to On Target, Elite?) Haven't really done much business since they moved but they used to specialize in collectables, and the owners are nice.

On Target: Expect to get raped on the price but they do service a lot of guns. They sell ALOT of complete guns and ammo and they seem to have decent prices on those. Not so sure about parts. FYI: They will clean your gun for $95.00

If I missed a shop in South OC I'd like to know

From The Codex Kalachnikova: "He who would have you surrender your arms does so because he wishes to do something you could prevent by their usage."

Why is the idea of an unarmed elementary school principal lunging at an armed shooter and dying in the process heroic... but the idea of that same principal armed and stopping the armed shooter with her own gun... crazy? –from screen name “Voiceofreason”
