Default Has anyone sold their BDU/ACUs to surplus stores?

I have a LOT of old BDUs and ACUs, some never worn. I don't have any use for them anymore and I've heard of some people selling them to milsurp stores. Has anyone here tried that? How much did you get?

You would probably get more by putting them for sale here or on survivalist boards.
Surplus stores will give you five bucks and sell them for thirty (that's just a guess)
Cut out the middle man and put them here and I'm sure you'd get more

Find an Airsoft site and try to sell them there. Most serious players like to have several different types of cammo patterns.

If you want to sell your uniforms for about $5 a set go ahead. My friend works at a surplus store when I asked him he said the owner usually bought big lots of military items from auctions.

Keep em, like my dad did. As a young boy, I was in awe seeing his old uniforms and the stories he told about his days in the Army. When he gave me his uniforms I thought there was no greater gift a dad could give his son.

For this reason, I still have mine.

I wore out my fathers BDU pants from Nam in Jr high and high school, still have his Nam BDU shirt with all patches.
Although it no longer fits me, I cannot bear to let go of it!

What size ACU pants, and how much do you want for an unworn pair?

I sold 3 sets of marpat desert and wooodland, full service uniform set, full blues set, 2 sets of frog suits, and the junk garment bag they give you for 100 at a milsurp store. You really wont get much for them.

Looks like mine are medium-short (26.5-29.5 inseam, 31-35 waist). My ABUs are slightly larger.

I'm definitely going to keep a set or two for sentimental value, but 4+ rubbermaids of uniforms is a bit excessive!

I've kept all of my uniforms from my USMC days for this reason.

Still have my USMC BDU's - gave a set to a good friend who loves the Military. All my ACU's have been purchased 2nd hand from former soldiers via eBay or CL. Good deals for all of them. One of my kids is already in the USMCR and my daughter wants to go (and my wife is kinda jokingly PO'd at my undue influence).

FYI most surplus stores buy from the govt auctions or from someone who bought at the govt auctions. An entire triwall of unused overstock uniforms for $50 bucks.

I got $40 for a pair of unused boots that weren't my size... which is way more than I expected. I say take the advice above and sell them to airsofters or on survival boards. You'll get more, and the airsofters will pay a premium for "real soldier" stuff.

Is it legal to resell this stuff? We have a room a room of crap, I gave away a bunch of Lethermans and Camel packs when we moved last time but we have about three rolling bags of uniforms and about four boxes of new boots. All of it was issued from uncle sugar though.

They aren't durable items so they aren't turned-in to supply when you PCS or ETS. Clothing and other "close to skin" items are essentially yours but selling them to make a buck seems kind of like a dick move, if you ask me. I donated mine to the needy though kept a set for nostalgia. Maybe there's some homeless guy downtown sporting a good set of my old operationally modded BDUs and DCUs

Then again, it's not like you're selling your RFI items like EOTech's, MICH helmets and Leathermans...oh wait! Yeah, I think that's a dick move too.
