Default Got my new American rimfire!!

So I'm out visiting my older sister, she got me a great bday present.

Ruger American rimfire compact. I'm so stoked. Now, if we can get any ammo, I'll tell you guys how I like it.

Ps. Don't feel too bad...... Ammo out here in Oklahoma is just as scarce as back home in Orange County. I checked every Walmart, bass pro, and cabelas between Muskogee, and branson, mo and no one has anything.

LR or Magnum? Funny you were in MO and no ammo. Fiocchi has a plant in Ozark that makes rimfire.

I got it in lr, cuz I have some still (down to less than 1000 rnds) which is realistically about a years worth for me.

All my friends are getting rimfires so I was hoping to score a bunch out here and bring it back with me, but nothing. One wal mart had 100 rounds I could buy, wish I did, cuz now I don't have any ammo to shoot here and a new gun with a free outdoor range down the road.

Place I got mine had multiples of both chambers and in both offered lengths.

There is a blurb about a .17hmr chambering in the owners manuals I if ya want that chambering, it shouldn't be too long.

Wish I could bring more back. But they're getting 299.00 for em. 340 otd.

I know whittakers in Owensboro, ky has em. But I don't know what a local ffl will charge to "import"

The guys at the bass pro In Springfield, MO had not seen any yet..... Btw the Springfield bass pro is no less than 10 times the size of the Rancho Cucamonga one, and it had an alligator pond!!

Camarillo Shooter Supply (Ventura County) had 22LR, 22Mag, in the "Standard" on the wall last week, and was getting at least 1 or 2 22LR "Compact" as well

Looking at one of these myself. Have to hold one before I'll put down my money and no one local has it yet. Seems like the perfect companion to my 10/22 TD.

Drove the 45 miles to Tulsa today and scored 2 1400 rnd buckets o bullets this morning. So that was kinda good.

TSA regulations only allow you to check 11lbs of ammunition in your check bag, so one bucket will have to sit for about 6 months til my sister comes back to Cali to visit. The first 1400 will suffice for a little while. I'll post pics when I get back to a computer tomorrow after my flights.

Cheers.

Haven't gotten to shoot her yet.

Need to go a little further west. I was in the Henryetta OK Walmart on Friday and they had all kinds of ammo, even 22lr. I didn't post it because most people here don't like that I shop at places they find it hard to get to.

Another good store to stop in is Sullivan MO, again just a little further nex time.

Good grief man!!! You get a new gun, and then post about it WITH NO PICTURES??!!!

You should be ashamed, you know we like pictures.

I think I know how you got your screen-name. Just kidding... (not really kidding)

Very nice.

Hey, I have a question for you.

Are you a California resident still?

Very nice, congrats!

If you want to get .22 lr ammo, follow the Rimfire Finds thread, I have been getting roughly 2000 rounds or more a week from that thread alone.

Happy B-day! Congrats on what appears to be a great rifle from Rugar.

I was just at Scheel's in Reno fondling them (standard, compact, and a compact mag). I'm in the market for a rifle for my daughter and was really impressed with this Rugar! I love the 60* silky smooth bolt, top tang safety, target crowned barrel, and the modular stock (all four modules interchange with either 'standard' or 'compact' rifles). I think she will be getting one of these rifles. Just need to decide if I should buy her a compact or standard model.

I had about 1000 rounds before, I brought back 1550 more (can only fly with 11lbs) and have 1400 more in Oklahoma my sister will bring back when she comes to visit next.

I'll be alright for a little bit

Thanks, I went with the compact because I like the shorter barrel, I plan on getting regular butt stock inserts. Since 99% of the time I'm on my motorcycle I need to get this package as small as possible. I had the takedown, sold it to get this, I wanted a bolt gun. I don't have a bunch of $$ so to get one I had to get rid of the other.

Will there be any real noticeable advantage of getting the longer barrel on these specially if your only indoors at 50 ft or shooting paper or targets at 25yards most of the time?

I would not think so.
