Seems like people are having commitment issues for this event.

I dont see anyone else who is signed up. I'm not interested in being the only one there, so I will count myself out.

GillaFunk - I see mike_the_wino (if kids are not puking), REDPATCHUSMC, Joe Blowitup, my self + wife & daughter. You will not be alone. If no one else shows up, I will still be there. I guess my family will have the whole range to ourselves.

I'm interested! I feel like it's going to be tentative as I don't have my work schedule for that week yet, but if I work it's normally in the evenings so it should be fine. I'm going to add it to my calendar and do what I can to make it up. No tools on hand but plenty of enthusiasm!

Just got back from the range. Lots of blown up pumpkins, shotgun hulls, broken clays. They do have some signs posted. I will see everyone next weekend.

My daughter from 35Yards out.

Is the cleanup on the 7th or 8th? Count me in, I just don't want to show up by my self and have a bunch of people trying to shoot guns while I'm filling my garbage bag.

One more thing it is cold in the morning. It is about 40 right now (745am). Yesterday it was 50 @ 10am. So it does warm up but bring sweaters/jackets. There is no running water or bathrooms at the range site so be prepared for that.

Cal fire is providing garbage bags and will haul away the trash. I am going to also bring bags. Buckets might be good if you reload to sort what brass you want to keep.

The cleanup is on the 7th. Boggs is off of CA-175. If you take CA-29N when you get to Middletown take CA-175W. You will drive through Cobb. After an uphill 120+ left bend the road is on the right and is named forestry rd. Take that and it will lead you right in.

I'm in for sure - just worried about access?? Will impending weather make this accessible to ALL vehicles or 4wd only??

If there is a lot of rain/snow it might be more difficult to get out there. That is another reason to meet at 8:30 in the front lot by the helicopter pad and car pool to the range. I will be there with the silver Subaru forester. I will have open seats.

I just arrived at my moms place in Middletown. No snow yet. The weather report says it is snowing in Cobb. It will be cold and slushy. Please drive slow and safely. If there is snow on the ground it will make it harder to clean the grounds. See you all tomorrow.

This is gonna be a fun one!!! I'm definitely going to bring my rubber boots. I'll be driving a black Chevy truck and plan on being there around 8:30.

I understand not wanting to deal with the weather. I started this all back in July. I never thought it would take cal-fire until Dec to schedule a range shut down for free labor.

I have gotten a few notes from people that the roads through St Helena are iced up. Please don't put your self at risk to make it. This clean up can be done another time. I am going to head out there in about 30 min. If it is too dicey I will turn back. Remember we are volunteers, no reason to risk getting hurt for this. If we were volunteer firefighters different story.

That was fun. 27 lots of wind. 3+ inches of snow. We made a bonfire with all the wood. Cleaned up what we could find. Then had the whole range to our selves. There was a 2' diam snow ball someone made. My wife got some other pictures I will post up later. We did not get a whole lot picked up but it is hard to find everything under the snow.

Great job guys! I wish the weather was better but a valiant effort none the less!

Perhaps a Spring clean up - post rain?? All we need to do is schedule a trip!!

Job well done!!

One thing about shooting in the snow. It makes it easy to find your brass. They melt the snow so they are little ice cubes with the brass inside. If you zoom into the first picture you can see the snow ball. That does not stop a 9mm round just so you know :-)

Talking with one of the guys from Boggs, he was talking about cutting down some of the dead trees and building up the range so we can have a longer distance. He also said he has a bunch of steel plates he was thinking of mounting out there.

There was a truck full of guys that showed up to shoot. Cal-fire was out with us at that point and told them that the range was closed until noon. It was about 10 at that point. They came warmed up by the fire for a few min but would not help with the clean up. After about 20min they left. 10 min later we opened the range back up and had a blast.

With a shovel. Dig a bit see if anything comes up. That is why we did not get that much. We pulled lots of wood. Had a nice fire.

Awesome job guys! wish i was there but i knew crowning St Helena would not be pretty with what was forecasted. Seeing this I'm sure of it now so better to be safe.

If a spring cleanup is in the mix I will try to make it… I fish tournaments so that time of year is busy for me.

I was just contacted by CalFire boggsmnt they are planing another clean up for 12/7 @ 2pm. I am having hip surgery so I don't know how much I will be able to help if any. That is no reason other from our area can't help out.

i got to say people are keeping the place fairly clean i haul away a couple small bags of shotshells(easy to pick up with a magnet) and some of the russian 223 and 7.62 the glass and occasional electronic garbage is annoying but it seems manageable unlike the insurmountable cow mountain

the problem is that people seem reasonable but they look at you weird for picking up garbage ya see people out there with a walmart bulk box o shells hulls all around their feet (ya want help picking those up*) they look at you like you are some kind of a nut

* best non threatening way of asking someone to pick up their hulls

Sadly I have not been out since early June. I have been having issues with my back and hips. (hence the surgery) I haven't even taken my birthday rifle out shooting yet last year i was out there at least twice a month. I am hoping I will be able to make it out there to support the cleanup but the bending and lifting are out of the question.

How's the road up? Not sure the family roadster (Pilot) will make it up.

Is there parking at the bottom and the chance to catch a ride to the top?

Is this a clean and shoot or just a clean up?

How long is the cleanup? Til sundown (5:30-ish?)

I have made it up to the range in a mini van. My uncle made it up in a Neon. There is parking at the entrance. I'm not sure if there will be people willing to car pool.
It will be shooting until 2pm. Cleanup from 2-5.

I am still recovering from surgery so I'm not sure if I will make it out for this clean up.

Hey Huduvudu sorry to hear your still layed up. Anyway the road is getting a lot worse. I was up last weekend and their was a fare amount of mud puddles and it may be a little more than some cars can take. I would have no problem offering a ride up to the range depending on how many seats I have available. I hope I can make this one and I'm still disappointed I missed the last snow playday.
