Default KVAR hates California

I was looking at some of their AK kits but saw the blurp they don't ship to California.
I emailed them to ask why since there is no law against shipping here (yet)
Their response was:

"Sir, unfortunately it’s K-Var’s policy to not ship parts kits to CA at this time."

I will take my pesos elsewhere....

I have seen other similar threads on confusion from vendors on legality. But a parts kit? It's not even a firearm.

Tried to order Troy Battlesights from Amazon the other day via shop42a, and discovered that some sellers won't even ship them to CA, calling them "assault rifle parts". The legitimate Troy Industries amazon store will though.

Because we all know how "flip up BUIS" are explicitly listed in PC 12276.1

How much will exile machine spend to decent the lawsuit filed for selling parts to CA????

Many small businesses cannot stay in business if they need to pony up $50-100k to defend a lawsuit.

I am not saying what KVAR and many other companies are doing is right.

I also understand that each time something strange happens in CA, people sue everyone.

I talked to Kvar about this and I pointed out that they will ship every single part here individually but not as a parts kit. They also said they wont send Full Auto bolt carriers here so that may be why they wont send the kits here as they usually are demilled kits these days and will have a FA bolt carrier.

Have not ordered a parts kit from K-VAR but their barrels are excellent and no issue with shipping.
I don't really blame them, it is our clu#@&r f#@* we (California) voted these turds into office, we allow them to stay in office, the gun laws here are enough to make a lawyer go blind. I can't say that if I were in there shoes that I would take a chance on a legal nightmare either. Not when they can sell their products elsewhere without the worries of breaking some bs state law or getting a customer into hot water and being sued as a result. There are plenty of other places to buy a kit from as mentioned above.

All that may be true. But there is no current law preventing them from selling to CA; HI; MA; MD; NJ; NY; Chicago, IL; South Bend, IN; Washington, D.C.; or Puerto Rico
as their website says.

Ask Exile Machine how that is working out for them...San Fransico doesn't care, and it is still going to cost them a grip of money to defend themselves against the city that is using taxpayer money to bring the suit (pretty much unlimited budget). And that is for a magazine rebuild kit. Why would you possibly open your self up to that wallet draining trainwreck when in this climate you can sell your wares elseware for the same $ and no BS.

Completely agree with your statement brother. If I were them, I'd avoid Cali too as it simply makes good business(and legal) sense to do so. I'm not happy about it at all. And yes, it pissed me off too. But, I can't blame them one bit.

I am glad you all agree with them. The sentiment is exactly what created this mess in California.

Not even remotely true and you know it. It is not enough people voting LEGALLY to get those people put of office and half, HALF the people in this state are on full retard voting for these idiots in the state and fed office to keep us and then down.

As for OP don't blame them blame Ca.

There is no current California law preventing them from shipping AK kits. So I don't understand why CA is to blame. It is their policy.

There isn't a law about rebuild kits either. The state of California has already shown they will file suits regardless of the law on our dime.

Nothing new here.
KVAR has been anti-CA for a long time...

This is like being surprised that CTD and Sportsmans guide are anti-CA..

But Kvar will ship Arsenals all day long to California! I know from personal experience.. It sucks that some companies won't ship rebuild kits here but if you we're in their shoes and with threat of a lawsuit you wouldn't sell them either!

I was always happy with KVAR when I lived in CA... They had many AK bits which others did not. Never had any issues with them sending parts to me. I never bought any complete "parts kits" via the mail though.

I saw http://sgammo.com had a great price on Magpul 30's. I've been a good customer of their's for several years so I asked them if they would take them apart and send as parts kits. They won't. As a small business they are afraid of the legal issues with magazines sold as parts kits.

What it comes down to is they fear that a parts kit will be turned into a 30 rnd magazine and used during some nefarious deed here in Commiefornia and then be traced back to them as the seller of such an evil thing.

Dude, get it through your thick skull. Just because you want something it doesn't mean they have to sell it to you. Even if it's perfectly legal and they don't want to sell it you can go pound sand. You're not the owner, get over it.

ak parts kits are used to build ak's. Magazine rebuild kits are for rebuilding magazines. They are two different products. Some of you appear confused about the two.

Well I just double checked, I was a bit wrong. This seller won't ship them to CA via amazon. That seller is dubiously named "Troy." I double checked, "Troy Industries" on Amazon will ship them to CA, no problem there.

I ended up buying them from EliteTacticalComponents.com as a bundled order with my Adams Arms upper anyways. But I edited my post for clarity, thanks!
