Default Remington 700P Barrel to HS stock alignment

I picked up the rifle today. and i noticed, from top view, the barrel sits closer to the right of the stock channel. should i be concerned?

I'd try to remove and re-install the stock to receiver first....never know, may have gotten beat around in shipping transit.

But, if it's not that....back to Remmy.
It's supposed to have visited the custom shop, that is unacceptable.

Wow that is pretty close, all 3 of mine look a little off but not that close compared to yours. If it shoots under moa don't worry about it. If it don't then the barrel might be contacting the stock and might need channeling to open it up some.

Had the same problem but not a Remington I got the H&S from Stocky's I traded it back for a B&C and it was 100%. Remember these stocks are VERY popular and they are made as fast as they can make them I believe it is a drying process flaw tho I have also seen them with the Aluminum bedding cradle off center as well.

I would definitely call them and see what they say. Should not be off that much.

It's probably your stock not your barrel. I'm sure the rubber mold got bent not your full steel barrel.

Give Rem a call and see about getting a replacement stock or like said above just upgrade to a B&C. Great stocks

thanks all, i will give Rem. a call on Monday. it is still free floating. i can put a dollar bill almost all the way back...about 1" before the receiver.

I'm curious if that little ~1/32" (1/16"?) is enough clearance for barrel vibration during each shot.

where' AR15Barrels?

Kinda Like this (attached):
Not uncommon.
As long as it's floating, it's fine.

My SPS Tactical has it too haha never noticed. Like above still shoots sub MOA so I won't sweat it.

Kinda hard to see but it's a bit to the left. Literally almost touching on the left side with some good room on the right.

My LTR stock was crooked up front also.. seem like they chopped a full sized stock to make a short one for LTR. fit and finish sucks.. but shoots great!

Well now we got the OPs original question covered.

Anyone know a good spot with good prices to pick up a B&C medalist stock? Seem to average around $275 for the basic varment tactical model (non adjustable LOP/CW)

After this thread kinda got me itching to finally upgrade the stock after putting it off for 5 years and show my 700 some love again.

Stockys is probably the best for availability and price.
http://www.stockysstocks.com/servlet/StoreFront

I'd still take any of those *off* stocks, remove the action, wrap something easily removable around the barrel (like heavy paper or cardboard) reassemble and then pull out the paper or cardboard to try and get it straighter.
I have 2 - HS stocks, 1 - B&C, 1 - McMillan, and 1 - Brown Precision.
All are perfectly centered.
