Since most of those are auctions, it may not be so cheap by the time they are actually done. That second post of yours is already at 46 cent a round and you cannot use your CC unless you want to pay additional 3%. Which is a total PITA. I would rather use CC and earn miles or rebates & NOT pay an additional 3% pass-it-on-to-to-the-customer. Just saying...

I know what you mean. However, the business has to pay 3% and in addition the miles you get the company is paying for those as well. They are called interchange charges.

So what do you normally have to do on Gunbroker....go get a money order, pay for that, mail it to them, wait a week til they acknowledge it...before they ship it?

Yep. The 3% push back is the norm on Gunbroker. It is the one place on the web, and I shop a lot on the web, where you consistently see it. So instead, you need to do the whole go the the PO (which where I live can mean a timed and planned hour long process), pay for a MO, snail mail the MO, have no security of it getting there (unless you pay extra to ship that way), have no real recourse if the transaction goes bad, wait for the dude to cash it, then start the process of him actually getting you the item.

I buy very little off GB, and I do 95% of my shopping online, because of that fact and the fact they have such a heavy anti CA seller base. But when I do, I often just pay the 3% to earn the miles/rebate and have protection in case of a bad transaction and to just get the ball rolling ASAP. I have very low tolerance for dilly-dallying around with the PO and MO's and all that snail mail slow nonsense.

Funny you guys bring up the 3%. All these guys are breaching their credit card processing agreement. Credit Card companies deem it as against their user agreement to pass on the processing charges by charging additional fees if a customer uses a credit card.

Not if you offer it as a cash discount.

I hear Contra Costa County has some broad restrictions on ammo shipments that some deem / interpret as a 'law' that forbids it all together. People get ammo shipped there all the time - but some lazy vendors just think its illegal. Kind of like the whole 'rebuild kit' thing.

(BTW - Oakland is in Alameda County - which is also legal)

They don't offer it or angle it as a cash discount, they use it like a punishment

Soon no one will sell to California, if our damn elected officials move through with these ammunition bills.

It changed earlier this year but I don't see many big stores charging a fee.......it's mainly the same people that have been charging people all along lol.

Irrelevant because California law doesn't allow sellers to charge fees. Although I doubt it's ever been enforced, as I see signs showing that there is an additional fee for paying by debit/credit at fast food establishments (Chinese, Mexican, etc.) and other small businesses.

Apparently Cabelas will no longer ship to CA as of 7/1. It's already begun.

EDIT: Ignore this. MAYBE. Still researching conflicting stories...

People do the same thing with paypal fees. This is why I prefer Chase quickpay but it's just not that popular.....yet.

Hold on, MAY be a false alarm, I've read conflicting stories this morning. One instance was simply a database error at Cabelas that is getting fixed, the other mentioned an actual phone call with a rep who confirmed CA has a new special permit that is a PITA and they aren't going to bite, thus the 7/1 cutoff. Lemme track down which thread I read that in.

It was just that 5.56 sku that was mis-coded in their database as tracer rounds.

Yes, read back what I wrote. That was one misunderstanding.

Not sure, however, if that is a separate issue from the 7/1 cutoff due to new permits... that may be an entirely different issue, or it may have also been a misunderstanding. Still trying to track down where I read that, just this morning.

Edit: See: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=773125 Particularly Post #15. I may call Cabelas to see if this was just part of the database snafu or if this is a separate issue entirely. I don't see how someone can mix up a simple database issue re tracer rounds with a supposed new permitting process taking effect 7/1. Sounds way too specific.

Compare to database mixed (resolved, or soon to be resolved): http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=785303

Whoever said that is wrong. There are no permits currently required by the state of California. If SB-53 passes in the Assembly and Governor Brown signs it into law it will happen July 1, 2014. It passed in the senate 23 to 15 so make sure to call your Assembly members!!!!

Yeah, given the July 1 date (they just had the wrong year), I'll bet someone at Cabelas just got confused. Phew! (for now...)
