Default XS Ghost Ring Sights On 10/22?

I just bought my first 10/22 and I am curious about the XS sights, they look pretty good. Has anybody used these that can offer an opinion?

The Tech Sights seem to the favorite...

there are three options for sight upgrades for the 10/22

1) tech sights.

2) tech sights.

3) tech sight

a few others have tried tech sights, and loved them but I'd still go with one of the first three options.

25 yds, stock ruger 10/22, remington yellow jackets, tech sights

Not to thread jack. But I've never used anything other then factory irons or a scope on my 10/22's. And am looking for something different too. I'm intrigued in this topic also. Xs sights and tech sights, etc. how is the adjusting and quality of the for mentioned sights?

Another vote for tech sights - way better than factory irons. I got the railed tech sights that came out earlier in the year - gives u the option to remove and put on scope

Xs normally has a large hole rear aperture.
Good for old eyes.
Which is why i like them.

Techsites are nice but hard for me to
see thru..

But in general.. TS

It's hard to see the front sight on standard dovetail sights. Most of it is blocked and the little point is obscured and the eyes don't focus right for them to work well. However aperture sights are set up so the eye actually focuses right. It's hard to explain but it just automatically happens. And I can see better with or without my glasses on. They allow depth of focus and all that.

The only problem with larger apertures is that the natural aiming/centering mechanisms of the eye get reduced as the aperture gets too large. Loss of depth of focus. Hard to explain but finding the right aperture size is essential.

Too small of course and too little light enters. Can't see or focus on front sight. Tech sights have a very good aperture size. If you're having trouble seeing the front sight you need more light. I noticed that in particular hunting many years ago. I could shoot as well with my irons but was out in a low light time and funny I could see he deer across the way but looking through he sight the front sight was invisible. Think of how scopes work. They gather light. Your pupil is maybe 2-4mm open but the objective lens is say 40mm with a 1" tube. That's 100's of times the amount of light gathered. Yeah it's huge.

I have the 100's. it's a flip up sight. I like it a lot better than the 200 which has adjustable elevation both have windage adjustments.

I adjust the front sight for elevation and zero at 25. But given POA it's still on out to about 75 with the short range sight. Then flip the 100 sight up and it's on.

In not a paid spokesman. Hell, I should be they are that good!!

I had tech sites and even in sun light they are a NOGO for me.
Years past not an issue.
No I am older...Hard to see through.

XS with a larger aperture works great for me.

I took my 10/22 to a gunsmith to have my sights installed and he is telling me XS Sights are not adjustable. He said I would need to take it to the range, shoot it, and file the front sight accordingly to be sure it is the correct elevation, or something to that effect. I thought both front and rear were adjustable?

The website says they are fully adjustable, can anybody verify this? I specifically bought these sights because they were easy to see and install.

Do they look like this?

Rear sight has windage and elevation.
Set screws at the base L&R side.

Once loosened the apeture itself screws up or down and
can be moved left or right.

Yep.

Everything I have read now and before I bought them says they are adjustable. Also, I have read where at least 2 people had them installed in 10 minutes, and they were NOT gunsmiths. I am not ragging on the gunsmith guy, apparently he has never seen these sights before.

Now I just need to find time to shoot it.

I have XS Sights on two of my rifles and they are great, but on my 10-22 I have this, it's a Nodak Spud.
http://www.nodakspud.com/NDS-22.htm
What I like about these is you can change from peep sight to ghost ring just by rotating it.

Here is another type.
