To keep this info fresh..........I see people stating all the semi auto rifles they own. Why would you tell the DOJ this? Your asking for trouble down the road.

I'm waiting for someone to go on a mass killing spree using a butter knife... of course its possible.. unarmed sheep will stand in line waiting their turn patiently... then maybe those lib idiots will see that it is the individual not the weapon that is to blame.

Oh but after the cops shoot the perp, they might just say he used an assault weapon and leave out the fact that it was in the trunk of his car at the time.. just like sandy hook.

True, sheeple will get in line.

They don't need this thread for that.

My dad has a Marlin 60. My wife just jailed one, and I have to get another for my FN2000 .22 conversion. I believe it falls under the "in common use for lawful purposes" category.

FYI.
As last amended, the bill will also classify any semi-auto rifle with a fixed capacity of greater than 10 rounds as an assault weapon.

So, the Marlin Model 60 would also be considered an assault weapon due to it's 14-18 round capacity.

Passed the CA Senate, currently in the CA Assembly.

To apply that, you need to get arrested, get convicted and file an appeal. I could be wrong, I'm no lawyer. At the least you would need a plaintiff and present the case as was done via Harrot vs Kings county.

There is no way US V Miller is going to over turn this law (if it passes) or be used by Elected Officials to repeal it.

It was referenced in the Heller decision against a handgun ban, why wouldn't it be used here. Additionally, Heller wasn't arrested, he was a cop that wanted a handgun for HD. Why wouldn't the exact same approach be used for common rifles?

Vote with your feet people. You can stay here and suffer hit after hit from the socialist-progressive politicians or you can move to a free state.

This is one of the reasons why CA is what it is, people who would be opposed to it left (easier to run away than fight). Which allowed the progressives to come into power and take control.

I have one word for this and any other "unconstitutional" legislation... nullification.

You have a point, but its a losing battle to stay, IMO. Think it best to move to a free state and try to defend from the same disease moving there. At least it makes sense to fight the fight from a defensible position.

100% --->WRONG!

The reason CA is overrun with socialists is because of open borders and entitlements. Low wage earning illegals/and-or their children vote HANDOUTS/ENTITLEMENTS (yes they do vote -illegally). Remove 15 million illegals from CA and all issues are solved.
The people offering the handouts/entitlements are the progressive-demorcrats. The P-D'ds are getting the vote of the LWE folks. The dumbing down of kids in public screwels didnt help with with this either.

To sum it up, the problem is:

Open borders and massive influx of low educated, low earning illegals.
Low/ no educated voters being pumped out of public SCREWels.
Low/ no educated low earning adults voting for handouts.
Progressive-Liberals bribing low-informed voters with entitlements.
Allowing illegals to break the law and come here to have 13 kids (WHO VOTE for more entitlements)

It has NOTHING to do with a few SMART folks leaving. But you are welcome to stay and be part of the gun ban carnage.

Im afraid its up to the states now. If the "FREE" states dont start fighting back the Fed-Machine then we WILL lose this country AWKI.

Um NO. Don't blame Illegals they can't even vote. Don't blame them having kids. I guarantee they aren't voting for banning guns. Mexico can't have guns only criminals can. You think they want to continue this here?

This goes beyond that. First it starts with the gun control. 2nd we have seen the IRS targeting groups. 3rd it's obvious the government is tapping phone lines and using drones. 4th where are all these fema camps that are supposed to help us in natural disasters? Why didn't they help those folks in OK when the tornadoes struck. Now this Snowden fellow leaks what the governement is doing. The government labels him a spy. If it wasn't for him what else wouldn't we know about.

I seriously doubt my people the Illegals are behind this. Go somewhere else with that. I know California can't be the only state with Illegals yet were the ones with the stupid gunlaws. Come on now.

Yes, I do. Once they get the vote, they vote Democrat. Democrats are the ones who are taking away our gun rights -- most votes are party-line votes. You bet that illegals who later turn legal or have kids who do end up voting to take your gun rights. They do.

I respectfully beg to differ. Most immigrants chose to come to the United States because they were fleeing wars, persecution, loss of freedom and economic hardships in their native countries, caused in large part by huge multinational corporations exploiting their country’s resources and backing the first puppet government that would protect their interests by promising a western-style “democracy” (aka capitalism) while turning their backs on human rights violations committed in pursuit of “democracy”. You are being extremely naïve to think that those same immigrants (illegal or not) would willingly give up the freedoms guaranteed to them by their adoptive country after having already lost them once before. Take a trip to your local range and see if immigrants are not well represented!

Following your logic would it make it just as easy to turn the blame on residents who, having never experienced the hardships of war and strife in their lifetimes, or never having needed to hunt or trap in order to feed themselves and their families, have grown up completely indifferent to, and intolerant of, the culture surrounding the use of firearms for protection and sustenance. These are the people who are giving (not taking) gun rights away by standing idly and continually voting into office the politicians who refuse to uphold the Constitution they swore to protect.

This is not about Democrats and Republicans but about where we stand on our rights as Americans.

Some do, and their kids (born here so instant citizen) do, and they vote, like most Dems, for reps that want bans. Mostly ignorantly because they are focused on one or two issues like immigration and healthcare/welfare.

Wrong, other states have the same problem, Colorado and Nevada are witnessing the socialist agenda making inroads. I know firsthand how the majority of hispanics think and believe about this, which is reflected in ALL of the political demographic research.

Last time I checked it was the legislature that does the actual voting. Whoever votes for those who vote for gun bans shares responsibility.

Supposing an illegal alien, or their child votes for a democrat in CA who promises them healthcare, and that democrat supports gun control, then the voter is equally voting for gun control.

Nothing is done in a vacuum.

Everyone needs to NOT register their weapons or comply with unconstitutional laws.

If noone registers their weapons it will almost be impossible to enforce due to man power and lack of funding.

If half the population rolls over and registers then it will hurt those standing for their rights.

Registration ALWAYS leads to confiscation at some point or another.

I totally agree and this ain't just talk like some on the board think. Cowering to these unconstitutional laws only shows that people ain't got no real balls! Our founders didn't cower to the regulars when they wanted the people to give up their guns, they stood for what they believed in and they were only 3%! I stand with the constitution and I have NO guns to register. (no disrespect towards anybody with this post, I'm just speaking my mind)

Only if they have detachable mags if I understand it correctly. Maybe since it's not semi-auto you might be good, but with politicians who think bullet buttons make guns almost fully auto, you never know.

Please take time to read the legislation.

It should not matter. If they are continually allowed to redefine "assault weapon" it won't end here. This year they are coming for the semi-autos (even .22s) next year it will be your beloved lever/bolt guns.

The real travesty of all this will be those under the age of 18 who will be deprived of their Ruger 10/22, Marlin 60/795, or Savage 64 or become criminals.

Registration ALWAYS leads to confiscation at some point or another.
This boycott of mandated registration is a form of "civil disobedience" as advocated by John Stuart Mill and practiced by people such as Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr, Rosa Parks, etc. I DO like the idea of all of us normally law-abiding legal firearms owners all refusing to register. "Gun control" is really "people control!" Just ask the 290,000,000 people disarmed then killed by their own governments in the 20th century.

Illegals can't vote?? So that explains why the Dems got voter ID laws shut down. Because it's obviously just a waste of time to inconvinience all those "legal" voters by having them prove who they are.
