Theyre fascists. They're evil tyrants. And yes they're treasonous. They deserve to be arrested and hung. But instead, they get accolades as we don't live in a society based on liberty. We live in a totalitarian state.

The constitution is dead and gone. Face it. Ramble all you want about the second amendment but it is part of an obsolete and invalid document belonging to a prior era and based on archaic ideas. We are curios and relics.

True, if you are talking about the 4473 that FFLs must keep under federal law

Until 2014, longguns are not registered. What this means is, even if they do not destroy the DROS paperwork as they are supposed to, there is no serial number on it, for instance. Identifying information only needs to be put on DROSes for handguns...until 2014

Vote Republican down the line.

Start organizing a candidate and fund, besides the NRA.

Angry citizens don't scare a politician. A lack of votes does.

If the Dems vote for it, they'll be voted out. Then the bill will get repealed.

Organize candidates now.

So how do you think this would pertain to 80% builds?

Hrm. That's true. Looking over DROS copies. Absolutely no info about the firearms in question, only that it's a "Long Gun". That's it.

DROS hardcopies (not NICS) are kept at the local level forever. When the firm folds the paperwork is sent to the BATFE.

Wow, I think you might be over-reacting just a tad. The 2nd amendment is NOT dead it is crippled in CA, but much of the rest of the Country is still free.

some of you sound as if you have never heard anything about this before. I'd encourage you to visit the 2A forum a lot more.

The NRA and California 2A groups are doing good right now but I think after the federal law going down yesterday it might be best to send your money to the California groups. Again go read up in the 2A forum and pick your group wisely to send your lunch money to.

The biggest thing for me about all this is not being able to pass down/ transfer the gun to another family member or my kids.

rm1911--"Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny."
Here is what I believe: liberal, progressive, socialist, nazi, marxist, communist- are all on the same path. Just different or wrongly defined.
They want total control of everyone.
They are All against Liberty- Freedom. They do not believe we "are endowed by our Creator, with certain unalienable rights, LIfe Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
They generally deny God exists, they serve the other entity, whether they know it or not and whether they understand it or not.
We have hundreds of years of this ignorance. Look at Russia,China, Hitler, and all the rest of the tyrants who controlled people and when they got enough power, killed their own people by the thousands and millions.
This is the path feinstein, pelosi, reid, bloomberg, nobama and many others are on. Take over the country through putting us in debt, making us dependent on the Government. Also confiscating arms so we are defenseless.

You are mixing things up.

DROS is a state form. It was invented as a handgun registry. The dealer keeps it. If he goes under, it gets sent to the CA-DOJ

When DROS started to be used for longguns, it was used differently. All a DROS should say is that it was a long gun. No identifying marks. And they are supposed to be destroyed after a certain time. This is different than for handguns.

The 4473 is kept for 20 years. If the company folds before than it is sent to the ATF. Not the DROS, the 4473. That does have identifying information on it.

Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure!!
And that is likely exactly the intended outcome. It allows the politicians to identify those who support 2a and criminalize their responsible activity. Of course if it is someone in political favor the gun will probably just get taken away. If not, all heck could be the price!
OMG are you out of touch...
You're making gun owners not want to touch this debate, strategy, topic and so on.

An idea was presented, one in which is a proven winner...vote them out of office, and just takes a swipe of the pencil, but you want to bash it.

Pro gun strategy needs to be multipronged. One reason is to allow gun owners to participate at their comfort level. Obviously, not everyone is going to go out and shoot a LEO come confiscation time.

Think of the cause.

But they would not necessarily know you have "illegal firearms" to turn in/register unless you register them

It's not gone ...it's the simple shallow enders that think their temporary majority trumps the Constitution. How'd the shallow enders treat mixed marraige, gay rights, including gay marriage, civil rights, separation of church and state. I believe it was as recent as 1996 I witnessed a black man being barred from one of the courses of the Pebble Beach Pro Am. The Constitution works but the sheep are defecating on it as they always have. It's just our turn in the box.
The Constitution will prevail provided those who try to subvert it are exposed and defeated. ....and THEY know it!

You are kidding, right?

If not then the bill(s) have to pass the Senate and Assembly and then be signed by the Governor, then it becomes law. If the Governor refuses to sign (its called a VETO) then the Senate and Assembly can override his VETO by a 2/3s majority and then it becomes law.

When did the school system stop teaching Civics classes? I don't mean to be sarcastic but this is how our State and Federal laws have been passed for a few hundred years. I am beginning to see why our state and country are in trouble, some of our citizens appear not to know how they are governed.

They seem expressly opposed to political speech so I guess I'm lucky the mods let it through at all.

Perhaps I did. I apologize to the poster (md2bpo) for being somewhat over the top on my post. I did not intend a personal attack but I can see where it could be taken that way.

Where in the description of that process does it talk about what is going on right now, hence "the bills passed in their respective committees and will be next referred to their respective Committee on Appropriations".

I know the basics you described but I have no idea what this means, except if it's an indication of how thing will be voted on down the line then it's kinda scary.

Unfortunately, once a law is on the books, it is unlikely to be repealed, no matter what the subject. Most politicians of any stripe don't want to worry about past legislation unless it benefits them somehow. It would have to be clearly understood that the reason the new politico is in position is by the graces of fed-up gun owners, and others who are sick of the status quo. Public service is no longer that anymore. Its become a feeding trough for the wealthy and well-connected.

I actually was being a little sarcastic - only to realize I didn't know as much as I thought after the hammer drop. So ill chaulk it up to tough love. I do feel good in that there are concerned cal gunners out there that are wondering the same thing though. If we're unclear or unsure - Someone's gotta ask - most of use lost our hs text books and don't navigate google too well at times

That is right, in California there is no "pocket veto" He must veto it to stop it. Ignoring it means it becomes law.

Brown may well veto this particular bill. If it passes it will cause costly lawsuits, and as it amends, and does not merely add to, the AWB here, if overturned in the courts, the AWB itself is dead, at least the "feature base" ban.

I just don't think we should rely on the courts...

One thing to consider the possibility of if there were to be an all out attempt at registration, and then confiscation, of firearms - There are about 8 million gun owners in CA. Probably 25 % would not comply and also would not hesitate going down fighting and taking a few of the "authorities" with them. Let's be conservative and say the number is more like 10% - That's 800K people shooting rather than complying. That would be a terrible scenario and I wonder if the law enforcement community has given it much thought? Can you imagine what it would be like if every day in this state there were hundreds of incidents like that?

Its only a matter of time until the rest of the country is going thru what we are in California. It almost happened yesterday but was narrowly shot down in Congress.........this time.

I heard that Nancy Pelosi would like to see Stripped Bass removed from California waters claiming that they are a predatory fish not native here? You may want to hold off on that fishing pole purchase.

Any high capacity reels are subject to a ban too!

Yes! .22s! And all because they made .22 copies of the SCAR and the AR-15 and these idiots in Sacramento are banning guns because of how they LOOK, not their power or use in crimes. This is the Dem's wish list: NOT SEMIAUTO RIFLES or ANY type. Do any of your fools doubt it now?

I am not going to register a kid's starter rifle as an ASSAULT WEAPON

I will move first.

It's NOT about California's gun laws -- it's about the political leaders here having complete contempt for one political class:

Tax paying, law abiding, industrious, self sufficient citizens.

Everything they do (gun laws included( is to shove it up our *** for not being a welfare sucking leech that they know will vote for them automatically. They tax things we buy online from other states? Because we "use" them here?

The state is dead to hard working people and it AIN'T coming back. I don't care if the gun laws end up worse where I go -- i will not enrich California any longer

I agree this "I will move" mentality basically means you ve given up.. I really doubt anyone will actually go as far as uprooting their family and leaving their jobs bc they can't have their AR.. Would suck a ton of course!!

But instead of threatening to move we should all do something
