This is ridiculous, everyone needs to cancel their orders and get their money back. We cant let companies take advantage of us like this

Well my bank/visa called me back and I'm passed my 90 days, so there not going to help me. I just put in with the BBB and see what happens next. BBB is showing an F right now with Ares Armor. I wish Ares Armor would stop taking orders.

Contacting a business on Facebook......that's laughable. That website is just a place for people to cheat on their spouses. no legitimate business would be contacted through Facebook. If I have a question about a whole bunch of money that I spent I pick up the telephone.

Sent another email eight days ago asking if they could respond without a form letter and a reasonable ETA. Nothing, nothing at all. Sorry but if you have that many emails to where you can't respond within a week, you need to hire your girlfriend or brother or anyone for that matter to simply reply to emails. This company will claim BK this year for sure. I'm about two days shy of calling AMEX.

Looks like I'm getting my money back. My visa card had sent me a letter let me know I have been give a provisional credit. I hope it sticks

O just as an FIY the ATF is possibility stopping CNC party's this is been posted on www.80percentarms.com.

The following information and rental service is provided by 80% CNC Rentals, LLC, a separate company from 80% Arms:
As of Apr 22, the ATF wrote a letter stating that they consider 80% lower build parties to be illegal. For this reason, we no longer offer them. We disagree with their opinion, but there is little we can do to challenge it at this point. We do sell jigs that make finishing your lower a pretty simple process. With a jig, drill press, and 3 hours of your time, you can easily finish your lower at home.

I think that 80 percent just had to split the lowers business from the CNC rental business. They are still selling lowers and referring people to different CNC shop.

Here is the thing: PEOPLE ARE IN PANIC MODE!
We can't expect to be able to easily buy lowers that in the legislature's crosshairs. Very few have parts - especially at Ares prices. I have 5 units on order (since January) and they have kept in reasonable contact with me when I email them.
If you want a backup "just in case" and an excellent lower, IN STOCK, RIGHT NOW, go to www.jprifles.com.
Here is the link for a stripped upper and lower receiver group combo - $349.95 - completely finished with no machining required. I just bought one Friday and it shipped to my FFL here in California today - no hassles - no one trying to deny me because I live in California. This is my ace in the hole receiver. It goes into the safe to build later.
See - http://jprifles.com/buy.php?item=JP-15LRUR.
Blessings and good parts hunting to all.
And let's all keep the pressure on in Sacramento.

A friend of mine walked into Ares a couple months before the panic wanting to buy an 80. He said that the guys working there were the biggest A-holes he has ever met in a business. He turned around and walked out. Told me he would never give his money to people with attitudes like that.

I agree, we are a stupid group of people

Where else can someone say 'We're getting so many calls we're just going to ignore you all. When we can fill your order we will. Deal with it'

And then we all sit here and go 'Oh thank you! You are awesome!'

Everyone needs to remember that the only people responsible for the current supply limits and price gougers are ourselves.

Ordered my 3 on Dec 19th, finally got them on April 22, and the anodizing on all 3 look like crap and 1 has pitting and another has dings in it to the bare aluminum. I wish I could say it was worth the wait but I can't. Good luck to the rest of you.

Also, just to add fuel to the fire. Mike, CEO of Ares, apparently has time to browse OT in Calguns.

Well considering the time of the post, I would have to say he should be returning phone calls or emails like any responsible business owner. But, you never know. Maybe he was up all night shipping the products that he charged his customers for four months ago without so much as an acknowledgment.

Actually, no. He should not get to go home. As a business owner/operator you lose privileges such as going home early when your company is failing in customer service and just in general.

When I order it clearly stated on their website:
" We do NOT want you to place an order if you are NOT 100 PERCENT SURE that you are willing to wait!"

It also warned that I will be charged immediately.

I am sure everyone here saw the same warnings yet proceeded to order, so no one here really has any reason to keep whining. The terms where set when ordering now people want to back out and blame it on ares. If you want a refund then so be it, but do not say ares did anything wrong because that just makes you look like a whiny ...

That's Bravo Sierra and you know it. Willing to wait is one thing, taking $$$ and then not communicating after MONTHS have gone by is another. 30 days, expected. 60 days, understandable. 90 days, irritating. 120 days, ARE YOU F'ING KIDDING ME???? And again, not a phone call or e-mail from them to be found.

Oh, but at least they were kind enough to let you know before ordering that you'd have to wait. Please.....

Ill have to agree anytime I've ever ordered a thing from a company that was back ordered I've been updated on the status of my order especially when it was +30 days of a wait I would be pretty upset if I lived a little ways away from them for sure, but in my case I literally live a few blocks away its pretty easy for me to go in and check on the status even though I'd much rather have an email or automated phone call saying something relevant about my order certainly communication between business and customer shouldn't be an issue but it is because its nonexistence in all of our cases.. I've learned one thing from this entire situation and that would be 'when you pay up front on a back order just expect customer service to be minimal at best.'

It's hard to jack up your prices with out product on hand. And I will agree on them being good guys just horrible business men I wouldn't have order if I wasn't prepared for the wait which I was warned could be until October but I can see both sides of this there is an issuer here that needs to be addressed

That is exactly my point. People walked into this knowing what to expect yet they still chose to bash the company that has done thing more than what they warned about from the beginning. The terms of the contract where laid out and people agreed, now their impatience is kicking in so they bash the company, that is not right.

I think you were trying to say they had done nothing wrong...

I guess you can say that. But when 4-8 weeks turns to 16-18 weeks and no communication is passed down, nothing wrong right? Truth is that doesn't affect me at all, it sucks so many are going through it.

On the other hand what does affect me is my MF-ing grips coming in for my 1911 project. Delays after delays and lies after lies.

Now we know with lil' rebuttle that the ATF sent them letters in regards to "manufacturing" and offering "cnc rental" at the same location. They threw a member under the bus repeatedly saying this never happened, but ceased milling on 1911's because they are the manufacturer, the ar parties should continue as normal, however they decided to rename their TM lowers to Ares lowers and may have also landed them in the same boat. They even made a clear distinction as to having Ares metal works and Ares armor to comply with ATF, all the while saying it was untrue. This magic shipment is supposed to fix all the problems as if the extended waits never happened, the lack of communication never took place and they were upfront about what's going on.

In essence they may have done nothing wrong, but they certainly haven't done much right lately either.

I have said it before, but I hope it is worth the wait, if these grips come In Looking like boogered hand drawn, 3d printed pieces of polymer, mine will be the first for sale.

As each day passes, with failures to communicate it certainly begins to feel as they are nothing more than middle men, middle men who came into this unprepared. Took your money, used it to wait to increase purchase order and lower cost per lower, keeping prices down while leaving the people who "pre-ordered" guessing, hoping and wishing they would get their lowers. They didn't price gouge like others, but they got creative with customers money and left them wondering, without ever addressing it.

You say they did nothing wrong, I say, where the **** is my grips?

Those rocket hub funding projects might have a better success rate when this is all over...

Wait, what? Jacked up prices on what? Virtual lowers?

Starting to sound like this:

My only experience with them is finishing an 80% that was then out of spec and I had to finish it again with a dremel.

Hello everyone been lurking for a while.

I placed my order for 2 80% lowers on 12/31/12. There was nothing that said I would immediately be billed and then left to wait over 4 months.

Has anyone had success getting a refund from them or is going through my credit card company my only option?

Good luck getting a hold of anyone. They don't answer their phone or reply to emails. I hear you can contact them through Facebook. I still chuckle everytime I hear that. Also, apparently their CEO browses 'Off Topic' so if you post about the s***** service they have, he might call you out. Not likely to get a refund though.

I ordered on 12/29 and they did have a note on the main page about immediate charge and possible long wait. Nevertheless I received my order on Wednesday. I say wait a little longer. I did not get any email notification of shipment but rather found a box from the mail man at my door steps. Good luck

Bush League. Ironically, I drove right by their place in Oceanside this afternoon on my way to a meeting and couldn't help but laugh. What a bunch of clowns. I'm really curious as to how much $$$ they're sitting on right now as a result of all this?
