Default 1911 Commanding Officers Model Colt

I have had this gun in my safe for several years now. It was handed down to me years ago. A really don't know much about the gun and was hoping someone could offer some insight. What would the gun be valued at? Is it something I should keep as a collectible, or possible sell/trade for something I would use?

From another forum.

"It is a Commanding Officers model in 9mm. It has the short officers length slide on an alloy commander size frame. The right side of the slide is stamped "1 of 500". I called Colt and they said that it was the third issue of a three gun series - a .45 made in 1985 (500 of them), another .45 made in 1988 (365 of them), and this 9mm made in 1990 (500 of them). In their system it is designated the "Officers Lightweight Commander".

NOTE: Yours Colt does not have the factory Colt grips that came with the gun.

Thanks for the info. This one is chambered in .45acp. I have some wood grips that came with the gun.....not sure if they are original to the gun. Seems like it might be a collector one day if they really only made 500. Thanks again.

Anyone know what the value would be? Can't trade or sell it unless I have a starting point. Can't even find the gun in any books. Took it to the gun shop. They couldn't find it either. They showed my a lot of models close to mine. But not this exact model. Any help would be appreciated.

I saw one in similar condition had sold on gunsamerica for $850 but I can't tell when. I'd estimate a value of around $950 in California but that's just a guess.
