Aero was Mother Hubbard's cupboard about noonish today.

Turner's SM had 30/06 and x54R and buttloads of empty steel GI ammo cans.

Just got back from Aero. There were 4, 100 round packs of .45ACP Federal there, along with about a dozen each of .38 and .357, some 12 gauge, and the usual 30.06, .243, etc. I picked up just two of the boxes of .45ACP-I know some of you guys are hurting...

7:30am Aero update: 1 100 round box of Federal .45 and then the usual stuff. .38 and .357 are gone.

Exclamation ??? Walmart San Marcos Motherload ???

Did you guys see the Walmart San Marcos thread started by MaxwellCA21 over in the Ammo for Sale section? Worth a read... and a bit of investigation, if you are a sleuth kinda guy.

http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=723262

In summary, Maxwell posted this photo below, stating it was from 10pm in San Marcos, but said he was told that they couldn't sell ammo until 7am. Another member called at 6:00am and was told that they didn't have any ammo. So what you think? My ideas below:

http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/a...2&d=1363159136

Possibilities:

Most Likely the employee who said they didn't have any ammo lied, for whatever reason (to favor walk-in customers vs. resellers, would be my guess... not a bad policy!)

or

Maxwell lied for his own reasons; either a cruel joke (since it was posted in the "ammo for sale section"... that IS a cruel joke!), or in an attempt to get sellers of ammo in the marketplace to lower their prices? I'm not suggesting this is true, nor implying Maxwells is of low character.. just playing the "what if" game. (No offence intended Maxwell!)

or,

1) The manager removed the ammo from the shelf
a) To meter it out though the day
b) to keep it for him/herself and friends

2) Some other employee didn't know about the stores policy(?) about selling times and they sold it to the first Craigslist reseller who showed up (and all the buddies he called, if necessarily).

3) An employee bought it all himself before the manager even showed up

4) Someone realized that the manager, who usually show up at 7am, likes to stock the ammo shelves themselves, pulled the ammo, and the employee who answered the phone didn't bother to check the storage location.

5) One of the employees stole it. Maybe he was quitting anyway and moving out of state... that would have gone far for moving expenses, and it's not like the FBI will be tracking him down!

So, I think someone in close to San Marcos should check this out in person, and let us know! Talk to the manager and get to the bottom of this Black Hole Ammo!

I for one, am going to check & confirm the the prices listed on that photo of Maxwell's, so we can exclude him from our list of "suspects" . "The game is afoot!"

p.s. Don't post on that thread. it's the wrong forum (and I guess, technically, this is the wrong thread, but Im sure all you following this would be interested in knowing what the deal was!)

Based on the bad attitudes I usually get from employees whenever I ask about getting something out of the 'ammo cage, I'm going to guess that whoever said they were out of 'ammo was just being a cock, just for the sake of being a cock...

I will also suggest something else about this situation though: back when I used to collect highly sought after Transformers, Star Wars, and other collectible toys, my fellow collectors and I always had to deal with "cherry pickers" or employees who worked at the store in question that would crack a case of toys open and pick the "good stuff" for their own purposes, long before that item could ever make it to the shelves.

I remember one time I walked into Toys R Us, found a hot Transformer, went to the checkout lane and the cashier looks at me with this wide-eyed, open-mouthed look; somehow he manages to ask me "where did you find this?" Before I could say anything, the cashier turns to another employee and goes "hey I thought you said you pulled all of these!" The two employees then got into an argument about the situation as I pretty much checked my self out.

Whether it's bullets or GI Joe's, I think the most unfortunate hurdle we face is store employees with their own agendas...

I am actually filing a complaint at the Chula Vista branch. I read the updated manifest online 12 midnight, drove my *** to the store before opening from the SDSU area. First one in line, head over to the ammo cages- nothing in sight. I asked an employee nicely to check the back- found nothing. He scanned the barcodes and said they show 2 cases (means 8 boxes total). He replies, it most like was stolen by an employee especially now with a dead serious look on his face. I am pist off at the fact that it cost me around $15 to drive and be denied and then to here him literally tell me a number of employees have been fired for lifting items.

Just got back from 'Aero, I'll confirm what you just saw, BUT-there are a ton of palettes that need to be broken down, so maybe some of those boxes have 'ammo in them.

As for the Turner's girls, there're two asian girls that work there, Dee and 'Flo; Dee wears the glasses and usually wears her hair up. Flo is, well the other girl that doesn't do that. Don't count out Michelle though, she's also super friendly and is heavily into archery and hunting. There was a really cute blond that worked there last year but she left because she's got a bun in the oven and the morning sickness was too much for her...

You, think any WalMarts in the area are hiring for a 1 hour a week position? Maybe in the sporting goods department?

But, jesting aside, I am really trying to find some 9 and its damn near impossible!

You knw what they say its not the thieving customers you got to watch. its the thieving employees you have to keep your eye on.

To confirm something, I saw a guy I knew the other day and obviously one of the topics that came up was ammo. He said a couple months ago before he headed to a comp, 3-gun i think, he desperately needed some ammo. Well he said he paid a guy at wally (dont know which one) to "hold" some for him. BUT he tried it again just before he left and the guy refused. Maybe another "sugar daddy" got him with deeper pockets that or his friends.

I hear ya. I've seen 9mm and .223 ONCE at Wal*Mart since last year. But if you really need 9mm check out Discount Gun Mart on Morena-every time I go there they've always got 9mm; $18 for a 50 box of PMC bronze and some other brands...

I think that guys cool, I've talked to him a bit. He's quiet, easy for some to think that though. He's into 1911. I saw him at a nearby restaurant the other day. The black kid is funny as hell. I haven't had any luck at shawline or Aero, thus no report from me.

Hm... I don't recall. But I do recall it was all #7.5 shot... great for tactical shooting indoors, and small birds outdoors! They had quite a bit.
