Thanks! Picked one up. I wouldn't have except that they are claiming these are unfired and I have never had a M44 with a new crown and great bore.

I just ordered 2. My first time using my C&R. I'm excited. I've seen some "Very Good" condition Mosins and was impressed so the "Excellent" M44's should be a solid investment. Cheaper than stock in Apple and I can shoot 'em!

These Wideners are VERY nice. I picked up one before Christmas and it looked like it was fresh off the production line. I think they were running $199 + shipping back then.

Boy, what I'd give to get a mint condition M44. I've always wanted one produced in 1948 for that reason. My '44 look great but its certainly been used.

Darn shame that Widener's M44s don't come with the ammo pouch or sling, I love those two little "extras" that come with a Mosin. Maybe that's why they're selling the rifles for such a bargain? :P

The 2 I got from Widners are as close to mint as I could hope for. Absolutely beautiful. Bit of a wait but so well worth it.

Decided to increase my M44 inventory with one of the Wideners M-44's. They sound like a great deal.

Now the wait

Edit- I'm tempted to drop for another 4 of them

Does Weidners work with your FFL. My FFL I use said they have canceled other orders in past saying they will only ship to C&R. Guess maybe I should have done the C&R thing before instead of being the professional procrastinator

So what's that crap on their website?

No Sales of these items to California, D.C., New York City, (Chicago)Cooke County IL, Massachusetts or D.C.
Orders Placed to these areas are subject to Cancellation Without Notice

They ship C&R to Cali. It's there under their C&R section.

They will only ship to CA if you are a 03FFL. That way they don't have to deal with the CFLC and CA DOJ.

They should rewrite their website, it is confusing that they only sell to FFL03s in Cali, I am so glad that they do but the way their website lists it in two or three different places is confounding for those of us who actually read the fine print.

They definitely sell C&Rs to California, we all bought M44s from this latest batch.

Shoot 'em! They are one of my most fun guns. Ammo is STILL cheap, even during the panic we are in, they kick like mule, are one of the loudest guns I have ever shot, spit out a four foot fireball, look cool and are a piece of history.

Accurate is a relative term. They are very accurate for a milsurp. They are not accurate compared to your bedded Remington 700 but I can consistently hit steel out of 200 yards, that's as far as my eyes are good for with irons.

If you put a new stock on an M44, we will kick you, cuss you out, call you Bubba and make fun of you. Would you paint in workout clothes on the Mona Lisa?

I don't know for sure. Some say the Mosin Nagants are, 'Minute-of-3rd- Rike'. What ever that means.

You would have to ask the families of the German participants of the Battle of Stalingrad if the Mosin is an accurate gun ;-)

Can't wait for mine! Anybody have pics to post? I am assuming these will be very consistent shooters with the new rifling. Anybody taken one to the range?

BTW, how will I know it's really mosin if doesn't come packed in cosmoline? Isn't that against the rules?

Here is what your Wideners will look like, may or may not have the mismatched wood on the fore end like mine.

Yes, there is a Widener's M44 in my safe and she is a numbers matching, non counterbored BEAUTY. I have another one on order from Widener's since 1/27 with no ETA. You can buy from Widener's with confidence, just don't expect to receive your rifle quickly.

I just ordered an M38 from Classic. Is there any good reason to get one of these M44s as well? They seem to be the same gun apart from the bayonet.
