Default west end gun club

finally went to the west end gun club.
1. no hassle
2.after first 50 buck limited membership i shoot weekends for 5 bucks.
3. you can shoot steel core ammo
4. few beginners doing stupid stuff with guns
5. they do not care if you police up your spent cartridges or not.
6. not crowded and 20 miles closer than Lytle creek round trip
7. bring gusts at 10 bucks each.
8. NC for targets
9. nice 100 yard range, covered and nice benches.
10. you do not need to climb a mountain to get their.
11. full membership first time is 480 bucks. but you can go their and use all their ranges everyday. you get a combo to get in the gate.
One NEG you must cross about 100 yards of very bad stream bed [dry] to get to the range which is about one mile off the main road. my 2wd ranger did fine. i think this will now be my home range.

Couldn't agree more. I must add that the range staff there has always been wonderful. Absolutely professional but very friendly and NEVER confrontational.

Do I just show up and join? Or I have to do something before showing up?

I'm not a member but my dad was and I use to go when they were still located in Upland. Long Longggg time ago. Its where I first learned to shoot. I have been looking at them for awhile. It looks like they have some good ranges if you are a full member. Think it would be much better than driving all the way up the canyon. Here is their website...

I have been with WEGC for almost 6 years. My only complaint is that we seem to be getting more members every year :P

Dirt road (right) on Sierra Ave, a few miles before Lytle Creek's ranger station.

If you see some gray foxes, a river, people stealing rocks or abandoning their dogs, then you found the right dirt road.

I believe for limited membership, you can just show up and pay the fee.
To become a club member, you need to attend a meeting and sign up in the ontario office (just off HWY-10)

i'd like to check this range out and possibly sign up for full membership.

does your limited membership apply towards your full membership if you get it within a certain time frame, like 60 days or something?

oh and how's cell reception there?

Cell phone reception is sketchy, I get text messages off and on.

Being a full time member is great, you can go anytime you want. I can leave work and get there just before 6pm and shoot as long as I can see.

The drive on the dirt road is not bad, I get there in my 2wd 4 door Lexus without a problem.

If you want to join I suggest you do it now, I believe only 20 more people can join before they close membership as they have a cap.

Yes. Going North on the 15 passing Rancho Cucamonga (e.g. Bass Pro Shops) it's going to be just after the 210.

Here's the address of a Jack in the Box on Sierra:

3910 Sierra Avenue, Fontana, CA 92336

Instead of pulling into that Jack in the Box, just keep going down Sierra about a mile farther and West End Gun Club is on the right. There's going to be a sign.

My complaints are the wind, and lack of access to the 200/300/550 on the weekends (I'd settle for just the 200 on the weekends, though).

I picked up a limited membership last weekend. i like it there. it's not crowded at all. a full membership would be very nice for weekday afternoons after work, and also to get access to the longer distance ranges. anybody know if there are any plans to get a 1000 yard range there?

the 100 yard range on weekends fits my wallet and shooting style perfectly. no crowds of beginner shooters getting in trouble, shoot my steel core mosin ammo. friendly staff. and now with the rail system to hold the FREE targets at 25 50 100 yards i am very happy. limited member i shoot for 5 bucks. bring a friend for 10 bucks. see ya their. ,

I'm jealous of those of you that have a membership at WEGC. I would have joined if I lived within a 45 minute drive but I'm down in San Diego and it would be almost 2 hours to drive up.
