Default Next Silhouette Match Feb 16th at Sac Valley

Anymore grudge match for the 16th? Since we proved at the last match that Mauser rifles are more accurate, the Mauser team though we will do a good deed and help out motherland Russia since they could not get help from master class shooters like Josh Smith and backstrap, the winning Mauser team from last match will help out the Mosin team this match and will shoot an all Mosin rifles to help them win something.

There will be three relays for this match so you can shoot two rifles if you wish like an as issued and open (either scope or target aperture). Sign up starts at 0800 so be there early on the 16th. Like always, this will be lots of fun for all participants and spectators alike. I heard rumors there will be a side bet going on…that would be interesting.

I'm thinking my 1903 will debut and then we should do a side wager on diopter equipped rifles for relay 3

Vern will be shooting his 1903 as well so you will have some company. Side bet for diopter would be nice.

Default Is the bay area crew coming?

Well 4 more days till the match. For those that on the fence and undecided if they want to shoot, I say just do it and I guarantee you will have a good time. We welcome everyone from beginner shooters (like me) to master shooters like Josh Smith (who never shows up to the match and just talk how good he is).

All you need is a vintage military rifle, about 75 rounds of JHP/SP ammo and you are set to have a great time. If you don't have the other equipments like a spotting scope, mat, silhouette board etc, tell Tom the head honcho and he will pair you up with someone that have the equipment.

This will be the first match with third relay so you can shoot two rifles if you want like an as issued and an open rifle with scope or open iron. You will see some nice target rifles come out to play at this match. I'm sure Bob will have his high dollar Swiss rifle with that female sexual toy at the end of the barrel...darn that rifle is loud. Hope to see lots of people there.

Where are all the SKS shooters representing mother russia?

Ok, you can shoot an AK out to 300meters then an SKS out to 500 meters

Hope to make it out to the gas gun match the Sunday after this. Tired of shooting the AR and winning open scope, so I'll probably bring the M1 out instead.

You guys need to stop making excuses why you can't make it and just come out and "get er done".

Bring that sub MOA Mosins, AK, SKS etc and show us how its done and win the match.

Janito, I am going to try to make a spectator appearance if my buggy drop truck arm works. I might get in some pistolero work but the long guns have too much stuff to corral at this time. I am getting real, real tired of being a cabin rat.

Ford, we are waiting for your return to the line. It's not the same without you so hurry up and come back. A spectator would be nice. We need a cheering squad to improve our score. I will have one of my nice 1917 Arnie wants to look at and for you to fondle.

Well the Mosin, AK and SKS aficionados are sure is quiet. Motherland Russi needs your help so come out and take out that sub MOA rifles and play and show us all how its done. Maybe its a Pearl Harbor type attack and they will dominate the match tomorrow? But I guess that would only be possible if Josh Smith and backstrap will make their grand appearance for the match tomorrow.

Regardless, this will be another fun match for everyone involved no matter what rifle you shoot. You will see some very nice vintage target rifles come out and play. Bob's high dollar ZFK55 with that female sexual implement at the end of the barrel will sure come out to play so watch out for him as he will probably clean the line. There will be a few other target rifles as well like the Finn Mosin M28-76, Swedish like FSR M96s, CG-63s and possibly Steve's CG-80?

I'm all loaded up with 200 rounds so I'm ready for two relays. Come on out early as it will sure fill up quick.

Damn, I may miss tomorrow's match, I've been sick all week. Dr. said to stay low or he's gonna put me in the hospital. I'll make the final decision tonight. I'll be bummed if I miss seeing Ford.
Juanito, you need to stop describing my rifle that way, certainly since my wife is going to me shooting it if we attend.

The Bay Area crew is going to be there in full force tomorrow!! My wife is even going to shoot tomorrow for her first time, so this should be a stressful day for me :/

So far I've got one Son going, probably his wife too, and the Tunaman is shooting my loaner K31 as well. I'm hoping I finish loading enough ammo to shoot aperture sights in the 3rd relay.

You better bring your lucky hat Juanito, you and I have a score to settle!!!

Brian, is it the entire crew or just your immediate family members.

That 3rd relay will be fun. I'm debuting my rifle below for the 3rd relay. I'll have my lucky hat as it worked for last Sunday's 3x600 match. I'm hoping it will help me again this time.

Bob we will miss you. Can't wait for the next gas gun match. Shooting a Ljungman this time.

I hate to admit it, but it seems like the crew has dwindled down to family members... except for Tunaman. He isn't family but he took me out to a fancy dinner last night for Valentine's Day, so that's pretty close to being family

This month it's with Brian's loaner, but next month it will be with some of my own.

Sounds like all Brian needs is his family... got a bunch of shooters in that clan!

Looking forward to the shoot tomorrow - see y'all there.

Great day to be shooting, and a great turn out - 52 guns were shot today in the 3 relays.

Mustang rocked with his new Persian Mauser. 200gr 8mm pills don't ring rams!

Lots of Swedes placed well.

BUT IT WAS A MOSIN THAT KNOCKED DOWN ALL 40 TODAY!

Damn! But then again that is normal for you. You can use a BB gun or evne a slingshot and get 40.

My CG-80 was shooting like a shotgun today.

I'm ready for next Sunday's gas gun match. Shooting a Ljungman for the first time.

Pro-nra was the overall match winner with his M96. Good job, Juanito.

Pthfndr saved my bacon with some scope come-ups for my Persian. He had emailed them to me last night and I printed them out...and in the printer was where I left them this morning when I departed for the range.

The new "3 relay" system seems to work really well.

Thanks Steve. I was just blesed today as there was no ringer for me and did not shoot an animal out of sequience like I did last month.

I thought it was comical you and Dan were shooting offhand at the chickens. It was a good move otherwise we would have been there all day shooting at the turkey as you and Dan were shooting so well.

I kind of like the 3 relay so we get a chance to shoot two rifles for just $10 more. It only added about an hour at the most so I like it.

I bet it did look pretty funny. I was frankly relieved when Dan hit a chicken, because I figured there was a far better chance of my missing a turkey prone than of ever hitting a chicken offhand

What kind of Mosin was Pathfinder shooting? I used to know what his favorite was, but forget.

I believe he's the one whose match target I worship.

It was great to meet your family Brian. I'd like to get my wife out there one of these days.

Are you going to be at the semi match this weekend?

Yeah I'm pretty lucky that my wife enjoys shooting. She's very competitive, so when I told her about the Mosin/Mauser grudge match, she got all fired up and wanted to go kick butt. I talked her into starting with the 03-A3 though, since she hasn't shot in a match before. She scored an 18 and hit 2 turkeys even, so she was super happy and will be back next time for sure. I used a different 28-30 than my usual one and scored a 28 to win my class. Michael shot a 31 with my other Son's Swede to win his class, so we really had a great day!

Oh, and my wife mentioned quite a few times how nice my friend Steve is

I doubt I will make it this weekend. I've got a lot of stuff to catch up on, both at home and at work, so I will probably not be out there. I've had a problem with my Garand double firing too, it's happened twice now at the range, so I need to take the trigger housing to a buddy that is an expert on Garands and see what the heck is going on with it. I guess I could try the SVT 40 but I doubt I would score many hits with it

If I do get caught up, maybe I'll bring the Garand out and just load with a SLED.

Actually, the match rules call for single loading, Brian, so you would be fine single loading with a SLED. Hope you get caught up.

My wife likes to shoot, but someone has to stay home with my Mother in law, who lives with us. She's got Alzheimer's so she can't be left alone.

Your wife was kicking butt out there for sure. She better watch it, or she'll end up in the Masters class. In fact, your whole family was kicking butt out there.

If we miss you this weekend, hope to see you next month.
