Maybe one of you can answer this real quick before I call. If I do the In store pickup do they call me in 15 weeks when it's ready. Then I drive down to do DROS and then come back in 10 days again? Trying to decide if its easier to drive or transfer.

Thanks

You fill out dros undated and once your lowers are ready you pick up! I remember when I bought my Aresenal at a lgs, I put a deposit on the rifle, came back for dros and finally picked it up 10 days later. What a hassel but I guess it was worth it. I'm glad I don't have to deal with that here!

I was down in SD this Friday...I dropped into the store to take a look. I was hoping to see shelves filled with JD uppers etc for walk in customers...but they only had display items, was going to pick up a few uppers if they had them...did peek inside their very very busy machine shop though...

I'm so over JD Machine! They just added 3 more weeks of waiting to my order placed in person on 1/16. I was told on the phone 2 weeks ago that my DROS should start 3/6 so I called today (3/7) to make sure everything was set and they said I'm at least 3 weeks out Has anyone gotten good news from JD lately?

I placed an order on the same day, but online. I was told about a month ago that it was going to be the 2nd half of march before I saw my lowers. I think this is pretty consistent with the 8-12 week time frame they gave me before.

From their website

All items are currently backordered. Please allow 15-16 weeks for delivery of new LOWER RECEIVER orders. Most other items are shipping in less than 4 weeks.

We are currently shipping orders for 5.56 & .308 LOWERS and .308 UPPERS placed at the end of December.

Currently, we are only selling the products that we manufacture, i.e. all products available on the website. We are Out of Stock/No Backorder/No ETA on the following:

•Lower Parts Kits
•Butt Stocks
•Bolt Carrier Groups
•Magazines

We appreciate your continued patience during this overwhelmingly busy period, and apologize if you have had difficulty reaching us in recent weeks.

I agree. Took about 8 weeks for me and DROS there for 19 bucks more. The finish was really nice with no tool marks or unwanted ridges. Very very nice lowers and glad I drove there. Fit on my uppers was tight too. So I've got two JD lowers with BCM uppers. Nice combination.

Anyone have a going price for JD lowers? Their site lists them for $380... Classifieds has them for $600 to $800 used for a stripped. I've been perking for a while but am now in the market for a 308 build..

What's an ok price for these lower and is there a group buy? Also do they price cut for CGN members or in person.. I know some sites price high to not cut their vendors short.

Last I checked rifle gear doesn't even have them in their site anymore.

That's been their price for a .308 for a while now. There's no discount for in person but you get put on a faster wait list.

Unless you already have an upper I'd recommend just getting the .308 matched upper/lower set. Saves you about $20

Just spoke with them today at the gun show. Backlog is 15 weeks. I went ahead and ordered 2 lowers. Great guys at the show. I already have 1 lower from them, very happy.

What did you order? Was it paint filled or non "standard" design?

Did you check with your FFL?

I think they still going thru growing pains. One website has their old address. I visited it and was surprised how small the machine shop was. Did a U Turn and went back down the street, after going to their website. Found it and noticed front desk to take orders and lady sitting down taking order on the left went you entered the office. Wife and I did our thing and left and really it was just about 8 weeks. We went back and picked up. These are our's

Seems like online is way behind other orders...

I ordered online 1/4 and nothing so far. Kind of frustrating.

How are they doing on quality these days?

I've got a JD lower from 2 years ago that I couldn't be happier with and a JD lower from 1 year ago that's an insult to paperweights and had a JD 308 build that was nothing but problems.

Would love to keep doing business with them if they managed to get their QA under control.

I cancelled today and picked one up locally (sac). It was more expensive $179 vs $129 but after no shipping, no lock, and just dros instead of $50 transfer and DROS it was 25 cheaper

Lets see. I purchased a pair of JD lowers from a local FFL mid/late last year. Both of them had tons of blems all over that any other manufacturer would definitely classify as seconds/blems.

Contacted JD and arranged to have them picked up at a gun show and exchanged at the next gun show a month later.

Went to the 2nd gun show to pick up lowers. Was given a new pair both in foam sleeves and was told they were both personally inspected and checked out.

Got home to take a look at them. Both were still kinda crappy but the worst thing was one of them looked like this:

The consistency between the total four I've had were also all over the place. Ie. One corner/edge of the lower would be machined looking one way, another one machined another way. The rear take-down detent hole was countersunk a lot one one lower, and barely on the other...

Hmmm I ordered on January 3rd but my order is still pending. Did you actually manage to get a hold of a live person?

I sent them a cancel request email like a week after I ordered but I never got a confirmation or my money credited back.

I'm ok either way. I'll be happy with 3 stripped lowers or my money back.

Ordered a case of Stag lowers last week and they were here on Wednesday. Glad I didn't order anything from JD.

Ordered some Stag uppers on 12/17, still haven't heard a word. This entire industry is just crazy right now.

Yeah I spoke with them today in person and they said they were shipping out orders from the 8th. What I think is going on is that they have different priorities for people who ordered online and people who ordered in person. I'm not sure which ones get the priority but I ordered in person.
