Thumbs down Need a new gunshop to patronize in the Fresno/Clovis or Visalia area

Unfortunately, We the People Firearms in Clovis is closing. This was my favorite shop, the best customer service in the Central Valley along with excellent prices. I'm very disappointed to see this place go, I wouldn't trade these guys for any other shop and I've been to about 3/4 of the ones in the area.

I'm a good customer, the kinda guy that likes to go to the same store every time I need a gun or gun related item.

My PERSONAL no go list:
-Fresno Firearms- Bad customer service
-The Range- Bad prices, bad customer service(unless you walk in with a suit) and bull **** PPT practices
-Herb Bauer- Bad prices
-Prk- Bad prices

More than anything I need a place for internet transfers. Any recommendations in the Fresno/Clovis or even the Visalia area?

I know PRK Arms is around Fresno. I hear their commercials on kmj580 all the time.

Update:

Sorry didn't see your "PRK - bad prices". I'm gonna leave this up in case someone else is curious about shops in the Fresno area.

If I would have made all my purchases there, I wouldn't have as many guns so I stay away from there.

I think it has something to do with not being able to re-stock. I hope he didn't overact to the AWB. It would suck if that was the reason and NO AWB passed. In the end, only he knows why hes shutting down.

There was a statement on their facebook. They were my favorite gun store.

Give Spencer's a "shot" at your business...they are always on "high alert" for new customers.

Yeah its in downtown. Don't don't have much in stock because of the panic. They have a few shotguns and rifles. They still have a decent selection of handguns.

They got in 6 AR15's on friday and they were all gone by the end of the day. They also get in AK's from time to time. I got lucky and went there last friday and they had an ak in stock.

I've heard a couple things about WTP closing. I think he's just fed up with the BS. The owner is an awesome dude. Spencer's off highway 41 a couple miles north of river park is cool. Been there a couple times and always have been nice

I was thinking a handgun would be best for her.

The firing Line in Clovis?

I've heard good things from a couple people about Suburban Survival Store. I haven't been there.

For buying firearms on the Internet check the list of FFLs on Gunbroker around your zip code. The prices are not always updated in the map for receiving and DROS processing. Call to ask the FFL dealer for pricing which vary from 50 to 100 USD, I call around this morning.

As for WTP closing its because they can restock semi autos of any sort and with the potential AWB in the air the owner decided to call it quits. John McCormick on Blackstone and Princeton has great customer service and fair prices. From visiting several LGS around Fresno no one really has a huge stock of semi autos, and AR are hard to come by as well, it's bolts and shotguns. The only ARs I've seen are at PRK and the Armory, but the are consignment, selling around 1800-2400 USD.

In Fresno there are a lot of pawn shops but they mostly have over priced 22s. Hope this helps.

I would stay away from spencers. The lady is nice but the guy not so much. Customer service is 50/50 with them. Price wise they are expensive and if i remember correctly, unless they have changed the fee, but their transfer fee is 150 plus dros!!

Id give breco a try, they seem to have decent prices and i believe they do internet transfers as well. The customer service is good too but it could be a little bit better. Also A&A firearms and i dont know much but we have a new shop called suburban survival. The customer service there seemed good and their prices is ok but not great.

All in all though its sad for us that WTP is closing. I wtp was my go to shop as well for anything gun related.

How about Central Valley Guns in Selma? It's a small shop but they only charged $65 for an internet purchase and that included DROS.

I've been going to We The People since May of last year. I stopped in with a friend after going to a store nearby that quoted an very high price for a Glock.

We stopped by We the People when they were still in the smaller shop to check it out, maybe get a price on a Glock. Going in, we were greeted instantly and said that we would be helped shortly.

My friend and I check out the case and see a consignment Glock. My friend gets the price and it's $475! He jumped on it immediately. I also snag a Sig for they had as well and I knew I was hooked.

Over the past year, I've ppt'd/transferred in/purchased 10 firearms from/through them. I've also sent a few family and friends through them and they were always my to go store for firearms.

To say that their customer service was top notch and goes beyond reproach is just a small tip of what the shop is. They not only provided excellent customer service, but their prices are one of the lowest in town. It's just going to be very difficult to replace a shop of this magnitude in town.

Even as they near their closing date, I get a call from Ryan that my handgun I ordered from them on the very last day (12/28) had shipped and that he was getting worried it not showing up shows just how much he's still thinking of his clients. Ryan proves that he wants to go out on a bang with his business and I think that's just going to be hard to find in a new ffl in town.

Talking with a few friends, we all can't agree on anyone that comes even close to the service we got from We The People. It's a shame that the bureaucracy has frustrated Ryan enough to close up shop.

The only bad experience I've had was at Herbs. I went in with a friend to look at HK's and the guy who helped us can best be described as an Old timer. While still looking at the various models of HK's, he leaves his spot behind the counter and just goes somewhere else in the store. I was flabbergasted and waited for him to come back. He did, but just walks past and ignores me. If he's willing to just blow off a 900 gun sale (Well, they charged 1100 for it, so prices are high), then I'm willing to not visit them anymore. The only good thing Herb Bauer is good for is to go handle some guns and then I go to We The People to order it. Thanks Herbs!

Also, don't transfer your gun to Herbs. Last I checked, they wanted $130 + Dros to transfer a gun. I thought that was high, but let the new store in town (Or the outskirts of town) Spencer's to hold the record.

Spencer's Firearms wants $150 + dros for a transfer, so they definitely get an award for highest priced transfer.

Prk I think charges 100 + Dros for a transfer, but that was for their SSE.
American Tactical on Clovis was 45 + Dros for a transfer.

Not sure what Breco wants or the newest store on Willow, Suburban Survival.

I dont have the transfers for Herbs, Mayfields, Breco, Prk, The Range, Ammo Dogs in town, so someone else may need to chime in.

I will miss them, I have profound respect for their business and I wanted there to be a last minute NEVER MIND but at this point it seems like it's just not gonna happen.

Worst case scenario, I was hoping one of his guys would pick up the FFL or something like that. Sometimes when the owner wants out one of the employees picks it up.

good dudes at WTP. I am very very sad that they are closing.

PRK is OK, higher prices, and people wait a while to be helped. Forget about calling.

Rob at Breco is a cool dude. Smaller shop but he's helpful.

Scott at the Armory is cool too. My work is close so I go there a lot.

why can't we have a damn turners in fresno ?!?!?!?!

American Tactical is awesome, as is Ammo Dogs, very nice guys, also impressed my wife because they would actually address her. A lot of other shops wouldn't even talk to her when she was looking for a pistol. She would ask a question and they would direct the answer to me. More than one shop. In the end we bought from Herb Bauer because they had what she wanted in stock.

Hey,

Yep, that's the one. I think they either go by American Tactical or American Firearms, but it's the same one on Clovis Avenue right you pass by the Target store.

Default The good and the bad

I had the same experience at Spencers. The lady is nice and the guy is a jerk. I won't go back there. I've had nothing but good experiences at Breco in Clovis.

Okay:
Spencers NO GO period. Dudes a plain jerk and lost out on a serious amount of sales while I was in there. He degraded customers many times and threatened people in his store. Many people who I have talked to have said this.

PRK- ALLWAYS a line, 2 jerk offs that work there and 1 super nice guy. Prices are ehhhh, they have gone up in the last year major.

Breco- Idk about this one....... Ive heard some interesting things

Herb Baurs- MOST expensive store in fresno period. Bad attitude, no help and stupid high prices. NO THANKS.

The Range- Expensive, 75.00 to 500.00 more then other local gun shop. Dont like there PTT, 5 people stand around and make you wait FOREVER to do it. Ill pass

Ammo Dogs- New shop, small space and nice guys. Decent prices for what I can remember. Not too much inventory.
