Picked up a couple of Nalgene bottles at REI's sale. They were the 32oz wide mouth for $7.99 each!

Currently switching out the gun room and survival pantry to another room in the house in prep for the S/O's oldest sons coming to live with us. Didnt even realize that we had this much extra food in addition to our main pantry!

I was on the fence about investing in equipment to go wind/solar around the house - but that welding with three car batteries sold me!

Another skill every man should know... working metal with fire.

I really need to get more chem-lights, great items to have, and if I remember correctly, Izzy even used them as entertainment for the kids.

I made pickles out of Kelp.

Yep - those kelp balls you see floating out in the kelp beds. High in Iodine and actually taste pretty good...

Experimented with diatomaceous earth (food grade) as a pest controller in the house yesterday... I'm still amazed.

Now it's time to do the garage for preventative measures, and while I'm at it - rotate food storage, that's a full day.

I got softhearted and let the Chow spend the night inside, knowing she had fleas. I do dog preventative stuff but fleas love this coastal weather. I had gotten over a dozen bites in a few days and then I got pissed, sorted through the retarded beliefs of DE, picked up a 4lb bag at Home Depot and sprinkled it on the carpet like Carpet Fresh. To ensure a uniform application and keeping my distance, I used a broom like a paintbrush in a cross hatch pattern.

I always walk around the house and garage in bare feet, before I was done, I was down to an occasional bite per room. DE is very fine but didn't need a mask, once down it smells like beach sand - nothing new around here. I'll steam vac it up in two weeks, should be enough time to break the egg cycle.

A bit of an odd topic, but I'm sold on its ability to disable insects - it's now part of my prepper hygiene supplies... after spending silly amounts on foggers, sprays and dog drops.

BTW; Knowing insects are attracted to light, I put two saucers down on the carpet in two rooms the first night with a solar light over each as a QA thing, total of nine blood suckers the first night, last night - one

I am frik'n elated -- I wouldn't be one bit surprised if one of the "inert" ingredients of Carpet Fresh isn't DE.

Sigh...put the man-card in jeopardy and bought a CO2 powered 1911 with horrendous trigger pull. I've been putting 100 BBs a day through it in my back yard at some little steel plates. My practical justification is to maintain muscle memory and discipline.

dunno if I did this as a prep thing or just because I can't stand going very long without feeling a nice 1911 kicking in my hands and at 50 cents a round it was eating into the budget a little too much. Oh, I used my last 1000 pistol primers and I'm down to less than one ounce of powder so reloading is not a cost effective option until the panic subsides.

Welp. Gotta go shoot some more steel spinners now.

- Worked in the garden and it is coming along nicely. Where I live in OC, I don't have a lot of space, but with container gardening, I have been able to rearrange my set up and move things around to maximize the space. I also use PVC pipe for upright gardening of certain things. I don't think I will ever have enough to do any canning for long term storage, but it definitely will help in a pinch.

-I made some camp stove fuel/torch fuel using cardboard paper towel tubes and wax.

-I also rotated my canned food storage this week.

Thanks for the details. I know DE is good against bed bugs too. Apparently, even though extremely powery-fine it is very sharp angled and cuts them open like little ninja swords when the crawl across it and they die shortly there after.

Today I picked up my prescription for two epipens. I talked to my doctor about it for emergency/SHTF use and she was really cool about it since I personally have no known allergies. They go in my SHTF first aid family kit.

I also did my homework on feline antibiotic dosages for the antibiotics I have on hand so if something happens to my kitties I can treat them when no veterinary care is available.

Bought 1200 gallons of propane for the ranch. Big tank is full need to fill the small ones.

Off road diesel is still pretty high, I hope the price falls a bit this summer.

Today I signed up for a class at the Red Cross for First Aid/CPR/AED training.

Really what I want is to take their wilderness first aid class but this is a pre-req.

Unfortunately due to scheduling conflicts I couldn't schedule it till July 20th. But either way, I am signed up!

Tended to the tomatos and cucumbers I planted in the yard. I have peppers and squash to get in the ground next. Looked through my Field stripped MREs for halal ones for a friend who is Muslim to try out. Also dry fire drills with my carry weapon.

Bought a nice used Rear Tine Rototiller off Craigslist today. Tested it by tearing up my front yard. Time to turn a good chunk of my back yard into a proper garden.

Got another bucket of shredded paper ready for fire bricks.

Drew up the final plans for my wife's sewing table.

Wife came home with a nice used baby bike trailer that also doubles as a wide stroller. Thing has a 125lbs load rating. I fit inside and she was able to easily push me around so I think it's rating is about 100lbs shy.

A lot of urban and suburban beekeepers have to tread very carefully.

I have one hive 14 feet off the ground and another 8 feet up. They are surrounded on some sides by taller obstacles (trees, buildings on my property) that force the bees to fly up and over the neighboring parcels and that keeps them off the neighbors' radar.

"911 = false flag. WTC 7 was brought down by demolition. 47 floors came down in 6 1/2 seconds - not hit by a plane. Just one of hundreds of absurdities that occurred that day. Wake up".

Tonight I'm heading to the annual AARL Ham radio field day event with my local Ham club. I've never really practiced with high-end radio equipment or on many of the extended bands that my license allows. Looking forward to learning a lot this evening. Especially how the time of day and atmosphere conditions impact the range of the various bands.

I'm going to camp out with them as well (it's a 48 hour event, but i'm only participating tonight). Hardly 'roughing it' but I'm going to take just my GHB and my hammock/sleeping bag and spend the night. Haven't done any camping since last summer so looking forward to sleeping outside.
