We're just days away from delivery on the first GB. Like others have said if I like what I get I'll want a few more, but now we here the price is going up.

IF I like the ones I get AND IF I can still get in for the $125.00 price I will want 2-5 more. IF this GB is still open by then.

That's a lot of IF's??

Can this be built at ares? On one of their build days, and is there any part of assembly that needs a gunsmith? Or is it something an average Joe with mechanical knowledge can put together and fire safely?

Also I bought a jig already, but i am concerned about the amount of work to finish. The prototype photos have more work on them to be completed than advertised. Has anyone in the first buy received there's yet? I'd be very interested to see pics.

You bought a jig already? As in you have one in your possession or you just mean from looking at pictures? As far as I know, no one has a paperweight or jig yet as the first GB has not started shipping yet.

I've paid for it but not received yet. After contacting them I was told "The Rudius Jigs are out of stock. They will be in stock this coming week and will be shipped to you." That was yesterday or the day before. Sorry for the confusion. Just trying to catch with the status of this buy,it's a lot to read. Someone ask a similar question I don't see that it's been answered yet but I might be suffering from screen blindness or something.

To complete this frame all that need be done are the slide rails, barrel seat and the two rear pin holes. THERE IS NO FFL REQUIRED PER BATFE SPECIFICATIONS.

I found that in the first group buy thread

if you build it with a 5" barrel, you would have built an unsafe handgun, which is illegal.

What do you mean that it would be a 5" unsafe handgun? Are you being funny?

I am pretty sure these frames are built with the specs in the guide rod length in 5" Government model.

Really thinking about getting one of these frames on this GB. When is money due? I am SD Local so no shipping needed.

OP Please PM Me with info.

no, I am being completely serious.

pistols that are not already listed on the roster pursuant to Section
32015, it does not have both a chamber load indicator and if it has

is fired, provided that the Department of Justice certifies that the
technology used to create the imprint is available to more than one
manufacturer unencumbered by any patent restrictions.
(B) The Attorney General may also approve a method of equal or

the Attorney General certifies that this new method is also
unencumbered by any patent restrictions. Approval by the Attorney
General shall include notice of that fact via regulations adopted by
the Attorney General for purposes of implementing that method for
purposes of this paragraph.
(C) The microscopic array of characters required by this section

there are legal ways to build a handgun from that 80% frame, but you can not initally build it up as a 5" semi-auto.

WOW!!!!!!! I haven't even paid attention to that part. I guess I will have to build it up in my free state and leave it there. Hopefully it won't get lost in the boat ride...

Just build it with a single shot sled in place of the magazine and a 7" barrel and you are GTG.

Then reconfig in whatever form you want.

nobody has said that you had to do that. You need to be fully versed in the laws BEFORE you commit to building a firearm in CA.

VaderSpade mentioned a way to legally build this in CA.

From the CA PC :

12133(b) The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to a single-shot pistol with a barrel length of not less than six inches and that has an overall length of at least 10 1/2 inches when the handle, frame or receiver, and barrel are assembled.

Of course!!!!! I don't know why I started to wonder why I had never seen that or didn't think about it. BUilding it up with a 7" barrel and a single shot makes it an Off roster build. Sorry for the brainfart.

Then again, I might end up building it in my free state when I move there anyway. lol

I world really appreciate it if everybody read through this thread before sending me a message. I keep having to answer the same questions over and over that are clearly posted. He reason I am annoyed is because i have been logging on to about twenty messages a day and only one on average has a legitimate question that has not been publicly answered. I will not ignore a message either. Thank you guys.

On another note, i am getting ready to open a group buy on parts kits as soon as we receive the frames. I am hoping for both low end (sarco) and higher end kits to be available (brownells, fusion.)

Is there any need to contact the OP if we intend to purchase more paperweights then first intended? Or should I just add it in to the payment?

Payment must beade AHEAD OF TIME in full. Im sorry, i am just frustrated. I have been answering the same questions over and over. Once this buy is finalized there are NO MORE 125 frames.
This is interesting, in the original group buy thread, it has been mentioned that BATFe has not approved the Rudius 80% (instead they modified the design to somehow be covered under a previous determination letter).

Since it was a guy from ARES telling it, I believe that story.

I really want to believe that this group buy will work and the price will be $125 but with the determination letter story not quite being accurate, I'm not sure what to believe.

As much as I want to let ARES get on with things, I'm starting to worry and I'm going to send a pm asking about the status of this group buy.

As much as you would like to believe there is a problem, there isn't. I spoke with ares and they told me it's all good. Some people are just so damn bored. Rather than just ask, lets jump to conclusions. The post by ares on the first buy surprised me too. Seems they modified something. Oh well. Big deal. What does that have to do with the status of this buy? Do you feel i am trying to rip you off? I pm'ed about a hundred calgunners my HOME ADDRESS to move this along quickly and easily. If you have a problem with a misunderstanding and feel the need to call me a liar on the board then step out of the group buy.

Another thing, on the first group buy it has been posted by the leader that ares will offer colored grips for around twenty dollars and build parties for about 65-85. Shipment of that buy will happen within two weeks as well. I am really excited. I am going to close this buy o november 30th. I'll call ares tomorrow and give them the date as well with the number of frames that have been paid for. I am hoping to have these shipped out the first week of december, if all goes well.

We are honoring the $125 price for this group buy. This will be the last one that we honor that price for though.

SALES TAX: I don't think anyone has mentioned this, but I think it needs to be addressed.

Fifer is in Cali, Ares is in Cali so it stands to reason that sales tax will be collected at time of sale. Per Ca BOE the rate in Oceanside is 7.75%. We are well over 100 Rudius' but using 100 to do a quick calc 100 * 125= 12,500 * 1.0775= 13,468.75! That's almost a grand in taxes! It would not be fair to fifer to leave him holding the bill, especially when he is going out of his way to organize this and help us out.
