My brother bought me a J.C. Higgins .22 for my 12th birthday in 1960. My father gave me the "family" H&R .410 shotgun a little later. He told me my cousin loaded it with 30-30 rounds and hunted deer in Arkansas. I must have stupid cousins...

Not my pics, but to give an idea of what they looked like when I took them home from the gun shop:

Norinco MAK-90

Group Industries HR4332S ("Uzi" model B carbine clone)
Mine also had the olive drab handguard and grips, unlike the black ones below

***Note Group Industries' sarcasm: HR4332 is the same number as the House bill that outlawed the future possession of new machine guns(1986 FOPA). HR4332 is their full auto version. The "S" designates the semi-auto version.

The first Firearm (as opposed to BB Gun etc.) I ever shot was a .22lr Bolt Action at Camp Hi Sierra (Boy Scout Camp) in about 1979 IIRC. .25 cents got you a block with 5 rounds. I was the only lefty so my line was shorter than the rest. Plink, plink, plink and I was hooked.

First I ever owned was my CZ.

My first firearm was a Christmas present in about 1958. It was a Marlin M-39 lever action .22. The first gun I bought myself was an Enfield Jungle Carbine for $39 from Golden State Arms in Pasadena. My first handgun was a Ruger Blackhawk in .357mag, it cost $106 out the door.

I inherited a Browning semi auto 12ga from my grandfather. But the first one I purchased myself was a Springfield Loaded 1911. It was all downhill after that.

First pellet gun - some 357 looking 6 shot revolver
First HG (1990 or 91?) - S&W 3913 (sold to upgrade to a P226R years later)

That Python is a serious 'first' gun! Love it!

First Rifle - Marlin Glenfield Model 60 from Gemco in 1974
First Shotgun - Winchester Model 1200 Defender from Big 5 in 1981
First Handgun - HK VP70Z in 1985 when they were on closeout with 4 mags for $200.00. Because of the trigger pull of it, I think I got ripped off.

Still have all three.

First real gun was a Glock 23. I had a Sig SP2022 BB gun before that, and various water gun/cap guns before that. Took a cap gun to school in 6th grade on halloween and got suspended because I "might go around scaring old people with it". F'n California man.

In '78 when I was 15 years old I bought a Savage 110 in .30-'06 at a garage sale for $25.00 The stock was cracked and it was pretty dirty but I cleaned it up really nice. It was the first high powered rifle that I ever fired and can still remember the heavy recoil and loud report.

Wish that I still had it.

Almost forgot, Uncle Sam gave me a nice M16A1 built by GM Hydramatic when I joined the Army back in '80.

From you profile you either just missed out on the SE Asia trip to the two way shooting range, or just caught the tail end of it.

Mas 36 1972. My dad paid 15 bucks for it at a store in Reno. I hunted with it for 4 years then bought the Marlin 336. I still have both.

My first was a Les Baer TRS. I remember telling myself that it was going to be my only gun so I might as well get the best. It wasn't long before I bought an Ed Brown SF.

Default Savage model 63 .22 WMR

Single shot, hard to load. Probably first shot it in 1967. I still have it. It needs a new extractor. Here is a stock photo:

It may be the perfect shotgun. One of the only draw backs an AK may have is accuracy. That's not an issue with a shotgun. All of its other qualities are perfect for a shotgun.

Just a thought.

That's like asking me to pull a scab off my body. That brings back such a bad memory. I bought a Davis 380. That pistol was such a peace of junk, I had to take it to a police department to have it destroyed. LOL
