That's ok. I'm only after recoil management. If you're at a gun range and don't like the sound or concussion you need a new hobby Then again anything less than 155mm to me is like a bb gun

I have the same problem with my pmags not staying in. I just received the AR10 mag catch and will update when I change it out.

Ok. The ar-10 mag catch is the way to go. The main difference in the two is the ar-10 catch bolt has a slight angle inward. This is what makes it work cause when you place it in the lower and screw it down, it forces the catch to go into the mag slot deeper. I do not have an upper yet but my pmag is locked in there very tightly now.

You said "Cons: lower has no bolt catch. So I need to count my rounds. That's about it."
Is this an issue with the lower receiver? Or is this a problem because you did not install a bolt catch?

Nice setup...How do you like the MA-TEN receiver set, any issues? I'm thinking of going in that direction. What kind of gas block did you use and what length gas tube, mid?

The MA-TEN set is my first dabble into .308 auto loading, but functions well so far. Only have 80 rounds through her so far. The chamber was very tight and had weak ejection at first, but ejection seems right after about 30-40 rounds.

It's using a DPMS SASS .936 block to clear the high step up behind the gas block. A normal .936 block wouldn't give clearance. It is a mid length gas system.

The rifle is slightly over 13 pounds.

i dont have a scale, but I took it to a UPS warehouse next to my work to weigh it with the pelican 1750 case which came in at 34.30 lbs. If I take Pelican's word that the case weighs 25.57 lbs. empty with foam, that leaves the rifle as seen in the picture unloaded at 8.73 lbs. I think this is to low so i will be taking the empty case and weighing it, but if i had to guess it's in the 10-12 lb. range.

That sounds reasonable, the darn things are hefty!

I think my AR-15 weighs 6lbs without an eotech.

If I can get the 308 build in at 10 lbs without optics I will be very pleased.

Options options, I'm stuck on a muzzle brake now...

Reduce Recoil
Limit the amount of concussive force that surrounds me (for spectators/spotters)
-Battle Comp BBAC
-PWS FSC30
-JP Bennie Cooley
-Benny Hill "Rolling Thunder"
-PRI MSTN QC Brake

Input...?

Battlecomp
or if you do not mind the people mad next to you then get the FSC30.

Those are the two I am leaning toward. I really like my battlecomp on my 5.56 so I am leaning more towards that.

The patches gettin stuck in the battle comp is pretty annoying... But it does do the job. I've got it on my 14.5 build

The one I posted a picture of is around 9.5 without optics and 11.5 with the big IOR scope. With the scope mounted it balances perfectly on the magwell so it doesn't feel as heavy as it really is when you are shooting it.

As a point of reference if I had gone with a barrel like the 18" fulton lightweight or 16" Rainier select & troy free float tube (while leaving everything else the same) it would be around 1 lb lighter. Conversely, if I'd gone with a 18" fulton stainless, 20" rainier select or 18" rainier match while keeping everything else the same it would be around 1/2lb more.

Also if you care about weight then forget stocks like the PRS.

Food for thought.

I was thinking the same thing, throw an ACS on instead of a UBR or PRS.

Right now there is a UBR. I've heard stock weight isn't a huge issue because the gun is typically front heavy and thats what makes for "felt weight"

Any other .308 setups out there. I'm enjoying the .308 Show-N-Tell. These are all great setups, thanks for sharing.

Baga to answer your question above, I had no issues with the bolt catch because I used the dpms 308 bolt catch.

Forgive the 700 in front, haven't had much time to take a photo of the rifle by itself.

LMT MWS with 20'' CL barrel
- Nightforce 2.5 - 10 x 32 NP-R2
- LaRue Rings
- LaRue Stamped Troy Back-up Iron Sights
- Altas Bi-pod with LaRue 17s Upgrade
- Magpul AFG
- Magpul XTM Rail Covers
- AAC 51T Flash Hider 7.62
- Fake AAC Ratchet Suppressor

LMT MWS Lower
- Prince 50 to fix the mag while keeping the Ambi connected (Top Loader)
- Geissele SSA-E Trigger
- KNS Anti-walk Pins
- Magpul MOE trigger Guard
- Magpul MOE Pistol Grip
- Slash Heavy Buffer for .308 with AR15 Tube
- Magpul UBR Stock
- Magpul UBR Strike Plate

I'm actually running a Magpul PRS on the rifle now instead of the UBR

Great minds think alike. That's my build except I'm gonna use the ACS.

They do think alike! I got a FDE handguard, I'm waiting on a rail and might end up doing an ACS in FDE or black depending on how heavy the gun turns out to be...

Can anyone shed some light on a buffer / spring / tube issue?

I've got a UBR on, put in the rifle buffer and spring (308 specific) and I cannot pull the charging handle all the way back, it seems like the buffer is too big for the BCG, maybe I'm doing something wrong here?

The carbine buffer allows me to pull the bolt all the way back when using the rifle or carbine spring. Am I doing something wrong when installing the rifle spring?

UBR is not rifle length it is regular length. I have one on an ar-15 and use carbine sring and buffer. I just got one of these bad boys http://www.heavybuffers.com/ar10carbine.html.

On the Carbine section it says UBR
"This product is specifically recommended by Magpul for use with their UBR stock on .308 ARs. CAR-10 buffers also work great with any other stock using a standard 7" carbine buffer tube."

You need either a DPMS 308 carbine buffer and spring or an Armalite short buffer + short buffer spring (762sass.com has them) for use with the UBR or standard carbine buffer tubes.

As far as handguards go get the troy 200$ free float tube handguard. It is very light and has rails that can be added or removed depending on what you need.

trying to get the gas tube pin into the gas block. I've tried lining it up first with a small punch, but once i put the pin in, it goes in a little off no matter how many times I try to punch it in. I've got 3 pins, and no luck...

Tips?

I am in the same position as what 'triggs75' was in. I just purchased my CMMG .308 lower. I was thinking of going the Mega MA-Ten Platform but changed my mind to CMMG. Not sure which upper build direction I want to go yet.
Anyone have the DPMS 18" SASS barrel, how do you like it?

The DPMS SASS barrel actually isnt that bad. It is built very well and the attention to detail is spectacular!

Here is another build I completed today!
This is my armalite approach.

LOWER:
Aero precision
armalite 2 stage trigger

UPPER:
Armalite national match upper(exact same as the super SASS, except for the adjustable gas block and the barrel finish)

SCOPE:
American Defense Recon 30MM mount
Leupold Mark IV 4.5-14x50 with illuminated Mil-Dot reticle

And of course a Harris swivel bi-pod, I need to get a bi-pod adapter for the handguard

I'm thinking of swapping the stock for a PRS or maybe not?
