We're sold out of the *SHORT+THIN* levers until Mid March.

All other Lever Profiles (Standard, Short, Thin, and Hybrid) are still available but we are running very low.

Does the unit stick out on either side? I have a Spike's Tactical Ambi Safety Selector to which I am not very fond off and it would want something close to a better fit.

Hi Outta Control,

You brought up a very good question/concern. Let me see if I can help explain this issue of the "unit stick out on either side."

The BAD-Ambi Safety Selector is designed to have the proper gap between the inside Selector Lever and the Receiver Sidewall. The gap is required/necessary to avoid rubbing and binding. It is there for reliability.

Every one of our safety selector is precision CNC machined from BAR STOCK STEEL to exacting tolerances that are tighter than typical CAST or Metal Injection Mold (MIM) safeties. So essentially every safety selector we put out have the same exacting tolerances.

With that said, the BAD-Ambi Safety Selector Lever "could" have a larger than normal "GAP" between the inside of the lever and the receiver sidewall DEPENDING on the THICNKESS of the LOWER RECEIVER.

Not all AR Lower Receivers have the same thickness and the tolerances vary greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer. What we have found in our research is that many of the lower receivers machined from Forgings are thinner than Billet lower receivers and "mil-spec" lowers such as COLT.

We have designed our safety selector to fit Mil-Spec Lowers, such as COLT, which typically have a thicker receiver than your average commercial Forged AR Lowers. It is also designed to fit many Billet Machined Lowers as well (i.e. POF).

The overall safety selector cylinder length must be designed to be compatible with the mil-spec COLT and other "thicker" (typically Billet) receivers. So, when you have a receiver that is THINNER than "normal", the larger than "normal" GAP (typically on the Right Side Lever) occurs. If we make the cylinder length shorter, to eliminate the "gap" on the Thinner Lower Receivers, then they will not work on the COLT or other thicker Billet Lower Receivers.

This "issue" is universal to all Ambidextrous Safety Selectors on the market even if you buy LMT, DPMS, TROY, etc. etc. They all have to have a set length so their safety is compatible to as many lower receivers as possible or else there will be a lot more people complaining that the safety selector is BINDING/RUBBING on the receiver wall. That would be much worse than a gap. A slightly larger gap is the lesser of two evils as it is mainly cosmetic, if you happen to have that problem.

If we make our own lower receiver + safety selector combo and don't care about our safety going into other lower receivers, then the gap can be taken out. Since there are many manufacturers involved, it is impossible to be sure that the gap never exist as each company have their own manufacturing tolerances. Even in the same manufacturer of lower receivers, we have found the receiver thickness to vary, sometimes by quite a bit.

There are also other factors that affect the "gap" between the lever and the receiver wall. The position of the small "vertical" hole for the Safety Detent & Spring can also affect the gap. If the hole is drilled too close INSIDE or too far OUTSIDE of the receiver wall, that will shift the alignment of the safety selector, causing the lever to bind or have excess gap.

Stacking & Varying Tolerances
are at play here. We are controlling what we can do on our end to ensure exact fit but there will also be some small percentage of people having problems due to varying tolerances of their lower receiver.

I hope I am not too long winded but this is my "short" version in order to explain this properly.

Hopefully that I have answered your question.

Regards,

George

I orderd one of these on Thursday and it was delivered on Friday. Great product. Its a little expensive but its worth the cost, it is very well made and the function is excellent. I wish I had purchased one sooner. Highly recommended.

Thanks BOFH! I am glad that you like the product. We believe it is the best billet CNC machined and most versatile Ambidextrous Safety Selector available for the AR15/AR10/M16/M4 platform.

As for price, we think it is modestly priced as it costs less than the two closest comparable product, if you factor in the (3) Levers, SS Detent, etc. that we include in each BAD-Ambidextrous Safety Selector kit.

We don't cut any corners. Just old fashioned hard work to making it right.

Give us a shout if you need anything thing or have any questions. Thanks again.
