Default Sleeve guns such as in "Taxi Driver"? Legit or Hollywood?

Anyone actually tried one that works?

Is the device without the gun(or dummy training gun) legal in CA? (hey, two sticks and a rope are a felony nunchuks so who knows)

I'm guessing I'm gonna be told "Really bad idea for real CCW use" for a few reasons starting with:

"forget the mouse guns",

and "life and death CCW situation not when you want to play Inspector Gadget with home spun toys",

and "if you are wearing long sleeves shirt or coat able to conceal Sleeve Gun there are SO many much better ways to CCW that actually work".

In my other life when driving taxi I just carried a double barrel sawed off. Don't mess with those movie props

Not to mention 'how are you going to qualify with that rig?'

But unless such a thing might somehow be a PC 16320 “camouflaging firearm container” (and I don't see that), seems that the gadget itself is OK.

i would think that as long as you have a cc permit you would be ok, although it probably wouldn't look very good in court.

Movie prop.
I like how Travis carried his knife. That would be illegal in CA...

Nice idea, but with all the stuff I've seen in the movies and the video posted above, I wouldn't think it practical.

With the apparatus strapped to your arm, it's thickness, the thickness/height of you gun, I would think your sleeve would have to be excessively huge for it to work properly. Even with a small gun like a derringer the apparatus would be quite thick. I guess if you were to wear French cuffs on your dress shirts, uncuffed (ala oceans 11)
and then if you held your arm in the position of the photo, it would no longer be concealed.

I do like the idea of it though.

"Taxi Driver", it was also the 1st film Jodi Foster appeared in as a 13 yr old Hooker, as I recall (?).

If you like that flick, also check-out "Leon The Professional".

What would happen if you were in a drive thru reaching out the window to grab your Diet Coke and that thing jumped out at the girl handing it to you?

You only need to qualify with the gun, not the whole rig, and then only in those counties where you have to qualify on every firearm (Kern County only requires that you qualify on one firearm.)

You don't need to qualify with any particular gun using every single holster you own for that gun, do you? This is a deployment device, not a firearm itself.

Would I use one, no, but if I did have the rig, I would be using it with a derringer that had some power to it, like a .45 long colt. If you only have two shots, you need to make them count.

Even if that thing were legal, I can see it malfunctioning at the wrong time.
Easier, simpler to just holster draw.

Ford Fairlane had one too

Actually I think in the movie the sleeve gun did malfunction, and flew off the mechanism.

Despite how big, loud, exposed to lots of sweat and how easy it would be to 'accidentally engage' those monstrosities are, but my biggest worry would be how easy it would be to accidentally get a negligent discharge once the gun is moving.

Of course since this whole thread is a joke, who cares?

also, those things would probably tear up your sleeves pretty fast
