Upside is, now you can file for exposure to asbestos on your end of enlistment disability. Thats 10% right there. Thats cash in hand.
Just make sure you dont shoot any lead boolets there.......the poor condors.

Bagram. All those converted soviet-era buildings have to be rife with cancer

haha yeah roberts is pretty horrible. I have to say it has probably the worst barracks I have ever stayed at. I was in the reserves at Camp Parks which is much closer to where my unit is at right now and never stays at roberts much but now in the guard I've been there a couple times and I was told that the barracks are nice and remodeled. HAH we went there for range qual and the barracks were horrible dirty *** floor and showers like the ones in the picture a few threads back. I shudder to think what it was like before the remodel. Rather stay at Camp SLO which is pretty much down the road.

You don't like Ol' Bob eh? When I first started drilling with the 185 we were there every month getting ready for deployment. They always had us in ****ty barracks with bare walls and nasty mattresses. Chow was marmites and MREs. After a while you got used to that. Then in July '08 we did a month AT just prior to MOB. Got set up in a semi refurbished barracks and ate at the DFAC.
Once we hit the MOB site I gotta say it was quite a shock to see how much better the conditions were at McCoy vs Bob but I just chalked that up to a Reserve base vs the **** Ca provides for a training area. Too bad they never rebuilt the bar that burned down... |

Been to Roberts only once. We always lucked out and our billeting was at SLO in the modern barracks. All of our ranges were done at SLO, and our land nav courses were done at Liggett. Guess we got lucky. I know the arty stuff was done at Roberts

They have actually started tearing down old buildings and doing some major construction there. I was there a few weeks, and they had a lot going on. They moved the Guard Dog guy from the PX to the internet place now. See how that turns out.
