Default CDFW lowers ling cod bag limit UPDATED -limit raised

A FYI for all the anglers so you donít get boned for being over bag limit:

ďAreas south of 40į10í N latitude (near Cape Mendocino in northern California) to the California/Mexico border, the recreational daily bag and possession limit for Lingcod has been reduced from two fish to one fishĒ

https://cdfwmarine.wordpress.com/201...nges-for-2019/

UPDATE

Effective June 1st, the limit will increase back to 2 fish! Multiple rockfish raised as well. Read below.

Wow! That's surprising to me. Seems like it had been two fish for many years and just two or three years ago they actually raised it to three fish for one season before going back to two.

We also get some deeper water to play with. Should be some nice rockfish in places that haven't been touched in 20 years.

That's probably the reason for the reduction in the bag limit for lings,
there must be some real slugs out there again.

Doubt it. Probably the overall decline of fish due to the kelp disappearing more than anything.

Years ago the limit was 5 and the length was less for a legal one.
They are not saving the resource it is only the libtard tree-huggers anti hunt and fish people who have taken over the fish and fairy dept in this state.

Thanks for the update, really appreciate it!

Without it, I might have given some fish a second chance that deserved to be in my frying pan.

That’s great news. I have a free trip out of Virgs Landing coming up and I plan on targeting lingcod. I really want a blue one.

Get some 2-4 oz jig heads and 5-7Ē big hammer swim baits. Increase weight depending how deep youíre fishing and how much swell there is so you can ďfeelĒ your swim bait and what itís contacting.

Increase bait color towards violet with deeper depth. Red drops out of the spectrum first. Iíve found red swim baits work well around 60 ft. When out in like 150+ ft I use blues. Might be bs, but itís worked for me.
