Default Do maglock kitsch really wear out the receiver/lower?

Hello all,

Future CA resident just learning about the maglock systems.

I see that there are many companies putting out great kits.

How real is the concern with these kits wearing out the material around the parts? Is it really that big of a concern?

Any input is greatly appreciated

It does not. Look at how many times 50 year old military M16's have had their pins pulled and are ok. Also go featureless, fixed mag is kinda lame, the new featureless parts are really good and cheap, Strike industries simple grips, stock stop, and an AIM A2 muzzle brake, really really close to a regular AR. Costs $25 bucks shipped.

Thanks yeah that is what I figured but wasn't sure why people are complaining about the wear.

If you don't plan on using the rifle as HD weapon just go with a compmag.

People will complain about scratches on their shell deflector.

I've seen M16s tossed around and bounce off concrete floors and still be in good enough shape to qualify at 500 yards. They're not fragile.

I've been testing with upwards of 50k rounds with all AR Maglock and Kingpin/hyperswitch stuff that i've developed. since everything is type 3 ano there are no issues but hell, they're rifles....meant to be used and abused.

as far as wear on the takedown holes...complete and utter hogwash!

I've been on the fence on this as well. Since we can't use our LCMs in fixed mag I've been contemplating building a Featureless and one Fixed mag... I'd use the compmag so as not to have any confusion on putting lcms in a fixed mag rifle. Just my take atleast. Good luck.

On a heavily used rifle I think pulling the pin will eventually start to wear out the hole in the lower lugs. I have no proof, just relaying on my knowledge through experiences.

I'm using the Maglock Patriot Pin Gen 2 with the Delrin Pins. As for some of the other setup, seems they could cut into the rear lug, but then again I have no proof. When that is mentioned, nobody replies with a report.

So may be the question should also be, do the kingpin, juggernaut, hellfighter takedown system wear out the hole in the rear lug.

As I mentioned above Iíve got a ton rounds and opening and closing through the entire development of the Kingpin and Hyperswitch and havenít worn down anything.

From all the opening of the action the lower pins will wear out. Skip Mag locks and to featureless considering you cant clear jams as your buffer is stuck and you cant release the mag.
