I'm sure Guisan could shed some light on these

I have one like it but was counselled that it was not in fact New and unissued, just very well refurbed. Maybe these are different. Probably import marked, mine is not import marked.

K31 is a must have. Amazing accuracy and just a fun and different type of rifle.

Even though these are not cheap, this is one of those deals that many will regret not jumping on. A beautiful unissued K31 will appreciate in value. I already have a nice K31 but if I didn't, I would be jumping on these. Ask any serious collector, these are the kinds of rifles that collectors will always pay a premium for.

Are these really a true unissued specimen or just a nice refurb. I have my doubt being unissued.

I have doubts that they are truly unissued from the Swiss military.

Note that the website specifically says "unissued condition" which would refer to the looks of the rifle. If it was truly unissued from the military they should say something like "unissued rifle" rather than "unissued condition".

My guess is that it is probably the same thing AIMSurplus was selling for a lot cheaper. Take a look at AIM's pictures and price for their select rifles.

http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.as...ge&groupid=254

Those look like "unissued condition" to me.

Either way, any collector would be all over these. It would be interesting to hear what Guisan or Latigo have to say about these.

Well, I'm not Latigo, but there was a time that I did change his diapers and even a spanking once in a while.
4,000 of these rifles were found last year...... all post-war production. Guisan bought a number of these early one, and other than a few barely discernible storage marks on a very few of them, they're band new.

I wouldn't blanch at the pricing. A new k31 Mfg from Haemmerli in 7.5x55, .308, 30-06 and 300 WinMag is going to be a cool $1,850.00+ And not be any newer than these rifles.

Forgot to mention that Lat is on the way back from the MotoX races Airway Heights in Spokane. *Horn toot coming* My Grandson, Julian Ricochet ended up 2nd overall against those hot-shot west coast kids. Latigo called and told me about Julian finally conquering the large double jumps, and that slingshot him right into the upper echelons of his class.

If we didn't have to pay taxes and dros on one, I'd buy. Especially for a nicely figured walnut like the one in the AIM pic.

Guisan. I saw that same pic you posted last year on GB. Is this the same batch?

Wow. Almost 1 year ago and we are finally seeing this come to our markets. Incredible. Boy if these came with a matching mint Bayo I'd be on it. Should have never sold my last kit.

$629 for Excellent with a walnut stock!

Yikes! I'm glad I don't have my FFL 03 anymore.

I think that's personal preference. I like seeing some grain in my wood. But that doesn't mean that the beech isn't beautiful with a really nice uniformity. I just like grain.

Not sure about collectibility but as far as looks, Walnut all of the way. Beech is kind of ugly in many cases although I have seen some beautiful Beech K31s. But Walnut almost always looks beautiful, especially with some Howard Feed'N'Wax on it.

Well I broke down and called my LGS and they're contacting Samco tomorrow; I should have a walnut stocked one on the way (fingers crossed) next week. I'll check back in when it arrives and post a follow-up.

Now I need to find a good supply of GP11.

My second; which in a moment of insanity I sold many years ago. This looked like a very nice replacement. Last one was beech, so the walnut will be a neat change.

Finally received one of these K-31s (got the beech stock one, the walnut ones were out). And I have a question: when were these made? The one I received has the serial number of 996xxx, which is beyond the range of any K-31s I found the info on.

ETA: found it, please, ignore the stupid question.

Thanks for posting this. Just renewed my C&R license a few weeks ago. Already had my COE so this was easy. Emailed both to Samco and called to place the order 2 minutes later. They confirmed receipt of my e-mail so a special select one in walnut is on its way!!!!!

Already have a well used one in Beech and it's a heck of a shooter. Looking forward to receiving this one!!!!

Wait, what? I was told they were out of walnut two weeks ago and that's what the web site says. Are you sure you got a walnut stock?

They are out of the unissued walnut. Click on the link above and you'll see they still have some in special select and very good condition. $329 for SS and $309 for very good. I wouldn't have paid the premium for unissued anyway as I'm going to shoot the heck out of it.

If someone wants unissued they still have some in Beech for $599.

Ah! nevermind me then. Got it. When you get your SS walnut, please please please post up the condition; if it's nice I'll pick one up also.

Check out Simpson Ltd. I got about a half of my Swiss rifles from them, they're very good with descriptions and pictures. They list every rifle individually, and they usually understate the condition, so you'll receive at least what's promised, usually something better. And they don't remove the troop tags, like Samco does.

I recommend not getting into these Swiss milsurps, unless you want to get stuck with elegantly built an ridiculously accurate rifles that are fun to shoot and easy to maintain with non corrosive milsurp ammo that also happens to be match grade accurate.

Buyer beware.

I really appreciate the honest warning. Who would want to deal with any of that? I'm definitely steering clear
