Smile City of Los Angeles Residence PPT

Hi guys,

I just purchased my first Handgun through FFL. my 30days start today and if I find a good buy in this forum and purchase through PPT will I be able to do it and go through PPT outside of Los Angeles ? or doesn't matter since I my residence (buyer) is in Los Angeles?

I just read somewhere that the 30day wait will also apply through PPT because of City of Los Angeles rules.

Thank you much for your help guys! I want to make it as easy and smooth transaction for both the seller and the Vendor doing the PPT and not waste anyones time in the process.

Mark

I am unaware of any LA Municipal Codes related to handgun purchasing rates, only the California law restricting handgun purchases to once a month.

Private party transfers (PPTs) are exempt from this restriction.

They do have the crazy no ammo purchases prior to New Years and July 4th so no one takes their choppers and lets off strings of fire in the air like it's Northwest Pakistan.

Check out this thread:

If you PPT a handgun in the City of Los Angeles, it counts as your 1 in 30. Turner's Reseda is the only gun shop I know of in the City of Los Angeles. Hope this helps.

So basically, just don't do a PPT at Turner's Reseda.

I've purchased 2 guns within 16 days. Per my FFL, I can't begin the process to register the 2nd gun with the state until 30 days has passed on the buy of the first gun.

So...I bought a Beretta on Sept 18. 10 day waiting period ended Oct 4. My FFL is holding on to a Ruger I purchased last week of which I can't start the paperwork on until Nov 4. It's my understanding you can purchase 2 or more handguns within 30 days. But can only take physical ownership of one every 30 days.
