Sightron - No Lens cap?
I recently received my Sightron 4-16 x 42mm AO scope. Sightron included a 3" sun shade but no lens caps. Sightron's failure to include the lens caps I fely was a real cheapo move on their part.
I called Sightron and they confirmed that my Target scope is shipped with only a cloth cover and that the customer has to purchase a lens cap if they want one. Even the least expensive camera lens comes with a lens cap. Generally a rifle scope is exposed to much harsher treatment and conditions than a camera lens so why would they ship a bare lens? I've ordered some caps but it will probably take a week or so to arrive. My local gun dealer doesn't carry the correct size to fit this scope. A scope in this price category should have some covers, even inexpensive covers IMHO. The scope is very nice but the lack of the lens covers really bugs me. |

Very few scopes come with caps, none of my Leupolds, Redfields, Weavers or Burris scopes came with lens caps.

You wouldn't want to use the cheap caps that come with most scopes these days.
I'd rather buy the scope caps myself then pay an extra $10-20 for the manufacturer to include disposable "freebie" caps. |
