Default Anybody know where their's a Nice Spot to Shoot in the Desert (BLM Land)

Hello Brothers & Sisters,

This may have already been posted, if so, sorry!
I am looking for a nice spot to go out shooting up in the desert around Victorville, Adelanto area's. I keep hearing talk that people go shooting but nobody seems to know what the street name is or even how to give directions to good spots, lol! I was wondering if theirs a spot where you can shoo (day & nigh)t, BBQ, even Camp if at all possible? Does a place like that even exist in California? I mean I know the shooting part does, but what about the rest?

Just getting bored at the range, and I go up to Norcal once in awhile with some buddies to train in the mountains where you can do all of this but dang its far! hahaha!

I was also reading about helping to clean up some shooting ranges up in the desert, If CalGunners are still doing that and need an extra hand, I would like to help out as well.

Thank you in advance.

Stomp

My first suggestion would be to join West End Gun Club. By the time you spend the gas money to go to the desert and back a few times a year, you likely would have had a full membership paid for. It will give you 24/7 access to the range and there are members who will camp overnight and do some night shooting.

If you ever find yourself near Jean, NV, here's 1,000 yards of BLM designated shooting area to play on - https://goo.gl/maps/JdJnq8ucwyH2 35°47'39.7"N 115°17'58.2"W

Where is Hodge Road located? (directions please)

Yes, trash bags are definitely a must! I have heard a lot of these shooting areas are being left in bad shape. Some of these shooters just don't give a damn and it affects us all.

Thanks brothers!

Hodge Rd....

North on I15 fwy about 15 or so miles north of victorville.... Take exit on right.... Only shoot on WEST side of fwy!!

You can get around in a car.... But more ground clearance is more better!!

Haven't been there in a couple of months but every time I head up there it looks less taken care of, I go up there in my Camry with no problems at all, would rather drive 45-60 minutes to go up there than go to lyttle creek close to my house

It's about an hour and a half drive for me but definitely worth it. Most places that are closer to me require a truck to get into them.

Please please please pick up even if it is just to take to your next pit stop to dump. It is sooo important especially if new seekers are getting good info on directions etc, take it for what its worth and pick up a little more than you would normally to repay the generous folks giving your cords and exit names.

I always take away more then what i bring in. It's pretty sad the people leave so much crap out in BLM land.

I still am not sure how to get to the shooting area. If driving from LA do i exit on hodge road and head across the road to be be on the west side of Fwy? I don't what to shoot were i'm not supposed to and mess things up for others that want to ejoy the land.

Can't miss it. Look for the cell tower on the left hand side. What is not being said is that there is only a small parcel of blm land at hodge the rest of the hills are private property. Buy " some and I mean some blm maps at the blm office to show you the blm lands

PM there is the best range almost to Vegas that is even closer then Hodgen road it is in Jean. We use it all the time and you can get out to 1255 without any hassle and all you need is your car. It's graded and marked every 100 yards and meters. Just PM and I will share the info, don't need more CA wannabes knowing where to shoot, they tend to leave all their crap.

My wife thinks I have only 3 guns

I know what you mean. I need to find a new place but being limited with a small car makes that difficult.
