Default New brass - size first?

Got some Lapua 308 and some Sierra MK on the way. Using new brass, it should still be run thru the sizer die right?

If my recollection serves me, Lapua states on the box that itís ready to load. In some circles Lapua is considered the authority in precision brass so why mess with their new brass.

My thoughts...!

I do not resize any new brass. I have found the necks with dents and out of round. So I just run all new brass thru my sizer die just far enough for the expander ball to true the case mouths.
In Fact I just did 200 win 30-06, 50 Weatherby 6.5X300W and 100 Nosler 30-06. The Weatherby and Nosler brass flash holes were good and did not need anything done. The win brass is a whole different thing. I de-burred all of the win brass as usual.

I suggest neck sizing all new brass to ensure roundness and consistent neck tension. takes no time at all.

No - it's just the way it gets loaded commercially. No size/trim needed.

I've always resized all new rifle brass, but I've never purchased hi felutin top end brass. I prefer Winchester for my 30-06 and 308 hunting rounds. All my .223 stuff in once fired.

Don't know about Lapua 308 (as I've never used it), but their 6mmBR brass is a little tight in the neck out of the box (verified by seating a bullet and measuring the neck - don't remember offhand what it worked out to, but it was more interference than I wanted to run.)

So you may need to expand it a bit (also gets rid of any out of round condition from shipping as well.)

Other than that, I'd guess it would be good to go.

The only new brass I get is / are gifts .
It is not that I don't trust it , it is better to cover your butt .
All brass is sized , primer pocket hole and flash reamed . Then
cleaned [ no telling what they put on the cases to keep shinny ]

If the necks are so tight that they are shaving bullets size them otherwise leave them as is.

I ran my new Lapua .308 brass just far enough enough into the die to get the expander. Other than that, itís good to go.
