$10.00 fee to make the addition to the permit. You also have the cost to qualify with the weapon - $30 plus range time.

I had my paperwork drop off appointment on March 19th, cleared the federal and state background checks on March 20 and 23 respectively. Now I await "that call" for my in person interview. No tickets in over 5 years, but I've had about 10 in my life time. Since I'm 40, that spreads over a 24 year time period so GMC shouldn't be an issue. My issue now may be that I live in my wife's house and the utilities are in her name. We share the same last name and I have a copy of our marriage certificate. Is this going to be a problem?

...and yes I pay half of the house mortgage and utilities in case you were wondering. I just don't have the bills in my name. Bi do have proof that we're married and my Drivers License and car registration shows my name and address. Anyone know if this is all right for CCW interview?

They wouldn't accept my DL and registration. You have plenty of time to have your cable, internet, satellite, or whatever bill changed into your name. Takes 10 minutes and you can print the new billing statement off their website. Do it now and avoid the hassle :-)

Grendl, which documents were you required to bring to your interview? Mortgage payment? Anything else? Why would they want utilities?

Nothing else but my FFL03 was insufficient. Remember, we're dealing with a buracracy - you give them what they want or you go to the end of the line. :-)

If you live with your parents then have them make up a rental agreement. Nothing illegal about it even if you pay nothing just put that as rent. http://www.dca.ga.gov/housing/specia...ampleLEASE.pdf

Grendl, Good advice. I'm already a spouse on the utility accounts but my name doesn't appear anywhere on the bill. I called today to get my name added to the bills. This should work. Next bill should come on May 7ish.

It was nice to see several CCW renewals, handgun add-ons and new applications come through while I was waiting. I have to say though that Maria is such a pleasure to work with and makes the process much better. |

Had my quick appointment this morning to drop off my application and get fingerprinted. Never met the famous "Maria" (hope this isn't a bad omen for my application, haha). While at the counter, I heard them booking 2 fingerprinting appointments... July 3rd!! Didn't ask about how many permits have been approved but 2 people showed up at the counter to claim their permits, so that was encouraging.

EZ Peezy Lemon Squeezy. In and out and I had my prints rolled on a separate card for my FL ccw permit, was still Quick and painless. Maria was nice as all have said! Now we wait.

Since we dropped off our application within minutes of each other, let's see if we get the call for an interview the same day. An earlier post said the call came within 12 business days, while another user says he's been waiting over 4 weeks. I'll certainly keep you guys in the loop as to my progress...

For the most part yes. Others use it but she is the one that is there the most. Plus her name tag has her name on it. Yes that last part was me being a smart a**.

Maria handles last names, A-L, the other lady on the right handles names M-Z. I asked.

That makes sense why I didn't deal with Maria, I don't fall under her letters. And while the lady on the right handled my paperwork, another lady (J. Ortega) handled my prints. Everyone was nice, it seems like they are pretty efficient. I guess the delays are due to the amount of applications.

either way, the whole experience was easy and pleasant. i would much rather hang out at the VCSO than the DMV (assuming i'm not in trouble of course). Last edited by RamblinRon; 04-17-2014 at 12:39 PM.. |

I do have to say though, of all the contact I've had with the police for whatever reason, VCSO has always been a plesure to deal with. Never once had a bad experience, and I'm glad I live in this county and not over the hill a bit. Also, if you guys have any interest but have never done it, try and catch a Citizens Academy if they still do them. Quite an interesting program, and time well spent. |

I'll be passing 6 weeks after date of fingerprinting and application drop off very soon.... ugh. Tried checking with the doj livescan automated phone number... no luck there either!
Did anyone deal with Penny? |

Wow... I'm guessing when they say "6-8 weeks" they mean "8 weeks minimum". That means the "2-4 months" to get get a decision after the interview probably also means "at least 4 months". I guess we've all got to hunker down for a long wait...

It will be interesting to see how many (hopefully all) of us get approved. I listed five GCs besides Peruta Self Defense, how about you guys?
