bad idea to book for training BEFORE you get your approval letter.

ive spoken to SRS protections and another but I may go with SRS once I get my approval letter.

yes you can, but its not the smartest of ideas, anything can happen.

Looks like the classes are pretty expensive, so definitely not wise to drop that kind of money and then get rejected for the CCW. Is there a standardized shooting requirement to pass? I heard you have to shoot at 3,5 7 and 10 yards, both strong hand and weak hand.

Oh I'm not booking anything until I am approved, I just want to research who to go with if I am approved.

Great idea. Isn't really going to speed up anything. The trainer will fax/send your course completion/qualification to VCSO.

In my particular case, received approval letter, completed course/qualification same week, info sent to VCSO and received my permit about 7-days later in the mail.

From what I've read on here every place is different but it generally consisted of 12 shots with a reload at 3 5 7and 15 yards with 80% of the shots in the 8 ring.

All timed shots too.

WOW! I don't know if this is true but I've heard that VCSD has doubled their staff to handle the flood of applications. The bottleneck may be the interview process but I guess it's too early to tell. Called some of the approved training centers yesterday and they said they aren't too inundated as of yet.

I would imagine that ounce people start getting approved the prices of classes will skyrocket.

The permit is good for two years. I wanted to change some guns on my LTC so I had to shoot again.

You can add a weapon before it expires. You have to qualify with the new weapon, complete a DOJ form and pay the fee at the VCSO.

Just call around to a few places on the approved list and get prices for the class. I think everyone should list the organizations & prices so you can see who is taking advantage of the current situation. Then go somewhere else.

Turned the application in today. The lady that did my live scan said they have 10 appointments a day of people turning in applications.

dan6414, did you get an estimate as to when you'll be called for an interview? Ideally they'd be conducting 10 interviews per day as well... let's see!

When I went in it was 4 to 6 weeks then they would call once the app is back from the DOJ to set up a face to face appointment. There were 3 different detectives that people were asking for while I was waiting for my finger printing.

These people were turning in their final paperwork as I over heard a few ask when their CCW hard copy would be available. One of the detectives said it could take a couple weeks they only had 5 detectives working on all the new applications. Don't know how that breaks up into how many interviews that can do a day just passing along the info.

They said 4-6 weeks for them to hear back from the CA DOJ and FBI about the live scans. Once the results were back they would call to set up the interview.

reading from some of the OC interviews that happened, the investigator will go to your neighbors residence, show your picture and ask your neighbor if you live at your residence for confirmation.

wtf is that!?

Was awaiting for approval on my reopen application on March 3rd. Got a phone call today at 4pm saying I need to make an appointment for another live scan and pay 95. Pretty bummed I feel like I went from the top of the list to the bottom. Have to call tomorrow and see what's the earliest day I can go. I'm guessing sometime in June.

Damnit! It's true. I made an appointment. For June 11th. This sucks. I wish they could have called and informed me. Maria said it is true that all applicants who have re opened their old applications will have to re do their live scans. This is ridiculous. Anyway they can they are trying to post pone it.

Ya. Doj doesn't keep your prints on file if you were denied. But if you haven't gotten a call. I would make an appointment anyway.

I resubmitted another app Mar 2 after being denied on the first one a while back. Gave the clerk a copy of my live scan receipt, she said that they will reopen my previous app for review, and that I didn't need another live scan. Got a call yesterday to make an appointment for another live scan. soonest appt was June 12. So now I am waiting.

Live scans are valid for two years. In my case, it had been longer than I thought since my denial. My live scan expired a month ago and neither the clerk or myself caught it at the time of submission or I could have made an appointment then.

I just dropped in to the sherifs station. I had to do something in the building next door and figured maybe I could luck out and pick up a live scan if someone didn't show. I was the only on in the building and was told they were just booked.

Has anyone who turned in paperwork after the Peruta ruling been called for an interview yet? It's been over 7 weeks since the ruling and the applications started flooding in...

I'm getting conflicting info from my merry band of cohorts. I've heard that VCSO is now doing the interview at that time the app is dropped off. Is this the case, or are the interviews still being scheduled after the DOJ approves the background? My first appointment is two weeks out and I'd really like to know what to expect. Thanks -
