Can anyone confirm this? Phone interviews only? I guess I'm one of the "lucky" ones, I scored May 6 at 8:45 AM yesterday

If you remember what county you got the citation in, look it up on the courts online case inquiry site. Search for yourself by name DOB or by DL#. It will show you violation date, citation number, case number and other detail.

If your citation was in Ventura county here is the link:

I don't think there are THAT many, maria also has to finger print all the perverts that live in, move in, and are released in our county. I don't think she spends all day finger printing people for CCWs

did anyone get an appointment for the morning times?
I remember the first time I applied my appointment was around 3pm

So yesterday they called me and had to reschedule my appointment because of a appointment conflict. It went from march 29th to august 27th. Today they called again and now it is changed to the 21st of march. Now she wouldn't tell me why but just said some people kinda jumped the gun. I wonder if people are bailing on their appointments???

I called this morning and made my appointment for September 10th. Melinda then called me back later in the day and asked if I wanted next week?!?! I couldn't make it next week, so I rescheduled for April 16th. I asked and Melinda told me that they just made some changes as to how the appointments are done, she seemed to intimate that perhaps they have hired more staff?

I also asked if I could use my COE rather than having to go through the whole BG check and LiveScan again and she said no, because they cannot get the BG info from the DOJ. She was very nice and very helpful.

Stoked I don't have to wait until September.

Call in four weeks? That seems like it's a pretty quick process in our Ventura County.

4 weeks was the standard after turning in the application. It takes them some time to complete the background check. I think I was right at 5 weeks when called in for interview which took about 30 - 45 minutes. Then received approval letter and had permit 60 days later. So overall, my time-frame was about 13 weeks - turned in app Jan 19 - permit issued May 5 - so be patient. In speaking with others, some similar time-frame, others 5 - 6 months.

Thanks for that timeline Simi, very helpful to coordinate with what I need to do to get my CCW pistols lined up. A few questions for you?

1. Do you know if the VCSD cares if one of my carry pistols will be a non-rostered C&R handgun? I have read they care about this in some counties. I might also be interested in some SSE pistols.

2. How many pistols were you allowed to list on your permit? Did you have to qualify with each pistol?

3. Once you paid the $125.00 for the LiveScan/paperwork, besides whatever you had to pay in fees for the training, were there any other fees due to the VCSD during the process?

Thanks!

Capybara -

1. in reading other posts related to this, as long as it is registered in CA it should be ok. SSE are good to go. I just picked up an XDs 45 SSE and will be adding it to my permit.

2. I have three currently and will be adding a four after the DROS is done on the Xds. Yes, you will have to qualify for each weapon you want to carry. Make sure that you double check the serial number once you get the permit. There was a mistake on mine and I had to go back in and have it corrected.

3. Once approved, there is another $80 due. I received my approval letter, which indicated I had to come in and pay final fees. I went to class, trainer faxed form to VCSO, they generated permit with qualified firearms then sent my permit via mail 5 days later.

So, assuming one getting approved, each of us has to make 3 trips?

1. Submit application
2. Interview
3. Final fee - do you need an appointment for this?

Thats ridiculous!

Hey Simi-Surfer can you tell us about the interview from when you went? What did they ask or go over, why was it that long etc etc.

I saw a post about it being only phone interviews now? Can anyone confirm that?

Just called the office to see about rescheduling my appointment. Went from 5/13 to 4/8. She had several time slots open on that date as well. I'd suggest you guys give them a call if your appointment is past mid April...

Thanks for the info Simi.

Either a lot of people are dropping out or they have hired more staff, not sure which one it is?

There are usually 3 people working at the other windows. They all have different jobs. And it seems like 1 live scan machine.

Btw I just cancelled my march 12th appointment at 2 pm.

I'm one of the denied for good cause applicants and was informed by the detective that's handling my paperwork that I do not need to fill out another application nor do I have to get another live scan. If you request that time and date make sure to post that it's not available of you get it.

It's shorter for those who were already denied for good cause. There are some people who've had their applications re opened and have received their approval letter

I just called and asked if I could move up my May 6 appointment and the lady said no way, because "nobody is canceling". At least I tried! If I got denied for good cause in 2006, is that too long ago to have my processes quickened?

They called me this morning saying that they've changed some things around over there and asked if I wanted to bump mine up from June 17th to the 28th of this month (March). Hell yes I'll take that!!

Could those people confirm? That is, those who were previously denied and subsequently received an approval since February 13th? I can see them taking our money, but I'm surprised they'd issue when the situation has not been finalized.

Finger printing took about 5 minutes.

I asked if she could double check my paper work just incase we both missed something. She did not take offense to this and took a quick look and sent me on my way.

I dealt with Penny who was helpful. She wished me luck and seemed to be pretty up on what was going on.

Did he look like a trouble maker or like an average Joe? I wonder why people at the window would say he would probably get denied again when he was trying to re-apply. I wonder how much police contact is too much...
