Default San Bernadino Renewal

Good morning to all CCW in California,
My initial permit will expired on February 2018 which is coming really soon.
Do you know when is the time frame to start the renewal process? Do the IA
Sending you a reminder or you just need to complete the package and contract your IA?
Any respond would be appreciate. Thank you for all the great input from everyone in in this site.

I've heard here before you can't start process until 90 days before expiration, if you look in the SB county ccw thread it's in there somewhere.

You should get a letter with all the info need in December (everyone due in 2018 should).
The classes dates will be listed, as well as fees due, and paperwork needed.
You can not set up your class more than 90 days out.

You CAN set up your class prior to 90 days of your expiration date. In fact, set it up as soon as you get the renewal letter. You can NOT turn in your paperwork until 90 days prior to your expiration date.

How often do people lapse on their permit? Is 90 days enough? just curious

Always been enough for me. If you're going to switch guns too, make sure you do it sooner rather than later. Range classes can be kind of ridiculous now that Apple Valley isn't doing them.

Gun additions are done during the week not on weekends so no long waits for range dates.

Read the renewal letter again. Classes MAY be taken within 90 days of the CCW expiration date.
You can schedule it when you get the letter. Prior years the letter has specifically said not to call more than 90 days in advance.

ETA: From my last renewal letter: **Low Desert residents may take the Yucca Valley renewal class within 6 months of their permits expiration date**

I have always gotten them in December.
Are you in the HD area? Or the main part of the County?
Sorry, just noticed Chino...
You should be able to take the November 7th 1PM to 5PM class at the HQ office.
Call Sarah Brock to confirm that 909-387-0604.

My expiration will be on February 2018 so I should get my renewal letter on December 2017?

You should. All letters for 2018 renewals should be mailed in Dec 2017. At least that has been the pattern for the last umpteen years.

Mine expires in mid January. I won't wait for a letter. I will turn in my paperwork at the 90 day mark and then ask about scheduling for class and range (to add a weapon).

The last class on the schedule I have for 2017 is November 7, there is also a October 10th class. There may be a class the first week of December 2018 like there was for 2017.

I called in SBCSD for the next available class as my CCW expires on August first. San Bernardino was booked solid after August 1st I was directed to the Rancho Cucamonga class on June 20th. I didn't know they even had a Rancho branch in RC

On the back of the renewal letters sent out in December there are dates listed for SB, Rancho , Hesperia and Yucca Valley.

My CCW was due to expire 04/17. SBSD sent me a renewal packet to my house around October of 2016. This contained all the info you need to set up appointments, and fee info.

The whole process went super smooth.

A renewal packet or a letter?

Instructional letter, & information sheet that had all the dates, and locations for renewal classes.

I was just getting at the fact they sent all the info needed to renew, & in plenty of time so your CCW would not lapse.

For people who expire in Jan-Feb 2018, here are renewal class dates that should be around 90 days out...

Sheriff Headquarters
655 E. Third Street, San Bernardino
Tuesday 10-10-17 1730-2130 hrs.
Tuesday 11-07-17 1300-1700 hrs.

Rancho Cucamonga Council Chambers
10500 Civic Center Drive, Rancho Cucamonga
Tuesday 10-24-17 1300-1700 hrs.

Hesperia Station
15840 Smoketree Street, Hesperia
Thursday 11-16-17 1300-1700 hrs.

Call (909-387-3750) the Employee Resources Division to reserve a class date.

Download and complete the renewal packet before your class.

I would like to know when doing your renewal. Will being part of a lawsuit have a impact on my renewal since that is one of the questions

Probably depends on the lawsuit. Only the SBSD can answer that.
