Great, now I can put my competition guns on my permit and not worry about locking them up.

It has been confirmed by more than one person.

Negative.

IA policy. There is actually no state law that requires that you carry your permit.
A cop is going to call it in whether you have a (possibly revoked) permit or not.
San Bernardino does not issue the paper permit.

If I could have 5, then I would drop my G26 and add a G30, P380, and M&P340

Since I can only list 3, the G36 and G26 will both be dropped in favor of the G30 and P380 (ya, two extremes).
I'd love to have a wheelgun as a backup, but I don't shoot them well enough to occupy one of 3 valuable spots.

Your 'paper permit' is on file at SBSD offices.

When I picked up my card on 5/1/17 she told me that they would be announcing in a few weeks that it was going to be higher than three. She said she didn't have the details yet. But that it was changing.

Number of weapons is IA prerogative, two years, I believe, is State law, so I doubt it will happen.

Yea, I know. But I can wish. Two years is too short.

It's public knowledge of the increase but I did confirm it with a manager in the CCW section. They gave trainers the heads-up a week or so ago so they could start spreading the word and update their training certs (most will have to add two more lines to their certs.)

They still have a significant renewal and new application backup so they haven't broadly advertised the increase. They're worried about a surge in people adding their 4th or 5th gun so they're rolling it out slowly. They have a limited number of people to deal with renewals and new applications so folks adding 4th ad 5th guns will slow things down for everyone.

.

I went to Prado yesterday with Artemis to qualify my two additional pistols. I sent my amendment form, training cert, and check for $10.22 to the CCW Unit this morning. I also heard the OC CCW card design is changing as well.

Got the word today from the deputy who handled my file that they are working on the increased gun limit but not ready to implement just yet.

I got the word from the deputy's boss (likely his bosses' boss) that it's in effect now. You can see the poster above qualified with two more weapons today. His trainer wouldn't have had him do so if it wasn't safe to proceed.

From Greg Block on Facebook:

"BREAKING NEWS!!!! Film at midnight, details to follow. While the decision was made last week to add 5 guns to the CCW permit from OCSD, they haven't figured out how to modify the software needed to print the cards."

Read through the thread and didn't see this link posted yet.
Got this by email today from Artemis Defense. They're saying the same thing.

Greg Block on facebook:

UPDATED BREAKING NEWS! OCSD has a brand new CCW card machine and software. New camera, fingerprint and signature pad. The bugs are not worked out. (I'm being real polite here). Until it is up and running, no five gun CCW's cards will be issued. Yes, two have been issued, but not on the new cards No Film at 11:00, you have the current details. Will update next week when they sort everything out. — feeling sad.

How long did it take?
I mailed my paperwork last Friday,
so they should have received Monday at the latest.
Thanks.

I'm picking my card up next Tuesday at OCSD; we'll see if anything is changed.

Given what I've seen at the range during firearm certifications, people need to learn to shoot and operate ONE gun before they get carried away adding five guns to their permit...

I like the option of multiple guns on the permit, but at the end of the day, I personally still carry the one gun I am the most proficient, and feel the most comfortable with when carrying.
