Smile OC to allow 5 Guns

Just read that OC will be allowing 5 guns and are changing the looks of their cards.

ETA:
Greg Block A email will come out sometime next week to all instructors. Pots of people are sharing now.

Nice.

San Bernardino double-spaces so they certainly have room for 5.

San Bernardino County has used a card similar to a CDL for several years now.

Facebook post from a 'OC Expert'. Don't think I can link.
Looks like it became 'official' at 3 PM today.

When I do an internet search for 5 firearms allowed on a CCW permit in Orange County the only thing that shows up is this thread.

I'm not going to get too excited about it, I typically only carry two of the three on my permit..

before too long there may not even be 5 different models left to legally own in this state anyways

The FB postings I read said it became effective yesterday afternoon.
You are welcome to call them and ask. I am NOT from OC, just sharing what I found.

That isn't their name.
FB link posting:
'It is now Official! Orange County Sheriff is now allowing 5 handguns on their CCW's. I'm picking mine up next Thursday.'

38Special, at least when my county switched a few years ago, they told me the card was only to satisfy the ID requirement and the paper was still the actual permit. I've never researched it though and I haven't read the PC in years

The last paper copy I have was issued in 2009. They went to CDL style shortly after and now keep the paper copy in your file in their records.

You sign and thumbprint a keypad when you do your paperwork. The CDL style card has your thumbprint on it.

The source is a very reliable OC source. You are welcome to use the link I posted above and read it for yourself. Or better yet call them.
It is my understanding you can add to your current list but I have not researched it since I am NOT in OC.

I just got off the phone with the CCW unit.

It has NOT happened yet.

It IS a recent development.

He stated that he does not know when it will happen but that they are hearing that it IS going to happen. Just doesn't know when.

It's "Self Defense Firearms Training" and it's Greg Block. It shows "@SDFT.GregBlock" The post states, "It is now Official! Orange County Sheriff is now allowing 5 handguns on their CCW's. I'm picking mine up next Thursday"

Either he jumped the gun or the rank and file at OCSD is uninformed.

Default Nothing specified on the O.C.S.D. CCW website that pertains to 5 permitted handguns.

All,
As of midday today (5/12/17), there is nothing specified on the O.C.S.D. CCW website that pertains to 5 permitted handguns. Five would be dandy, but I'm just glad that I'm allowed three handguns to choose from.
Regards to all,
Ayacuchano

I really only carry 2 of the 3 on my permit. Putting 5 on my permits just means more rounds spent qualifying with them and a possible higher charge by the instructor for 5 instead of 3 guns.
Now if I carried 2 BU guns I and wanted to switch out my main with another having 4 or 5 makes sense.

Yay? IDK, I don't change CCW weapons like shoes. I have two on my card. Not sure why I'd need more. But.... more choice is ALWAYS a good thing.

Five different options would give you a chance to try out EDC weapons in the real world.

Right now I have three pistols on my CCW permit, but I also have two others (Shield .45 and Sig P238) that I have been legally carrying in other states.

Currently, to put these new pistols on my permit means "qualifying" with them and then removing two existing pistols which I have already qualified with from my permit.

Five is a reasonable number, given the unlimited options I am allowed in other states.

I hope this is made official soon, as it was promised by a "insider" forum member quite some time ago and never materialized...

This was spun up a few years ago and got killed. You still have to shoot them and go through the paperwork. We'll see

Was at a LGS this morning and a couple ppl there said it was official, not just rumor but that it will be a couple weeks or do before it kicks in. Don't know if they were LE, but the shop does attract a lot of LEOs.

I almost always carry the same firearm for CCW, but if I have a special circumstance that requires a different firearm temporarily, it must be listed on my CCW permit to carry legally.
It also gives one the option of carrying an additional, more powerful backup firearm in the car.
Hoping it works out. ...
