GA is a shall issue state. You will need is your GA drivers license before you can apply. Then all you do is head to your counties local probate court, complete an application with around 5 questions, pay your $79 fee and wait for it. When I first applied it took about a month to get my permit. The last time I renewed my GA permit it took me about 10 minutes and that included waiting my turn to be called up. I had my new permit 2 days later.
No firearms proficiency test, no need to list what gun you want to carry and no hassle. That assumes you do not have any convictions against you. My wife got her permit last year and then around time was 1 week. Your county may very but it should not take very long to receive it. I don't know what sort of modifications you did or plan to do to your carry piece but I personally carry a factory stock G19 or a stock Combat Master cuz but do as you will as no one besides you will know unless you use it and it gets confiscated.
Once you get here you should buy a NFA item. The first time I did and had to get sign off from our chief LEO I was worried but when I finally got to see him I he had it signed before I entered his office. Easy sneezy Japanesee.
What part of GA are you moving to?
