Default Anyone CCW a full size 1911?

Last night I carried my new Wilson in a Wilson OWB holster. It was heavy and felt awkward, but it didn't show with a loose shirt. Not sure if I will try it again, but felt safer with more firepower than the G43 pipsqueek.

I do carry 1911 colt officers elite IWB and that one of my favorite and it fell like I'm Cary a sub compact.

I carry one with a x300 In a OTG IWB at 4:30. Yeah it's heavy, but it hides well, gives me all I need firepower wise and is an all conditions CCW. The added bulk does eliminate a pocket flashlight. Hell worst case I can always club a baby seal with it!!!

Baby seal clubbing option is always nice to have with a full sized 1911. You'll break your Glock if you try to club a baby seal with it.

I carry a Springfield full size when I work at night OWB. I wear a long jacket that covers it completely, unzipped. I move around a lot working outside, I dont notice the weight at all. I think its something to get used to is all. I also carry a Springfield EMP when Im not wearing the jacket because its easier to conceal and not have to worry about printing and the barrel hanging out the bottom of my shirt. Im not sure id like IWB with a full size 1911.

5" Colt combat elite in s Galco V-hawk IWB everyday for past 6 years

You get used to the weight and won't notice it. Thinner profile than a double stack -

If weight is an issue, probably need a better belt/holster combination. I have used a Sig Revolution XO/High Noon pairing. High Noon are high quality, high priced and a little more difficult to don/doff. Graduated to a Kimber Ultra/Blackhawk CQC 001 Commander length holster. Sometimes less is more. Nothing shoots like a 1911.

I've carried my Kimber Ultra CDP and I've carried the same in full size

I cannot say I felt ant safer with full size compared to compact.

The old saying is the only advantage with a 5" barrel over a 3" barrel is it puts you 2" closer to your target.

Only reason I've carried the full size is ... because ... it's there.

I carried a 1911 for years.

The secret to comfort and concealment is a good holster on a real gun belt. In truth, this is the secret to all concealed carry.

As much as I loved my 1911, it really is/was a open carry pistol for most of us.

Even a commander size pistol is a much easier piece to carry.

Ultimately, I slowly moved to true CCW pistols which are designed specifically for ease and comfort of daily carry.

This also removes one of the excuses not to carry, while justifying another gun purchase ...

I carry a Smith 1006. It's like a 1911 and a Rottweiler had a child.

I carry IWB at 4:00 with a crossbreed QuiKclip and a good carry belt. The trick is IWB with a good belt. Held firm against your body it doesn't move or feel heavy.

That was the end of S&W making real semi handguns. ..

Not sure if eliminating a handheld light is the best idea. There are a lot of times that a light is necessary and a gun is absolutely not. Can't pull out your gun to find your keys if you drop them or figure out what is making some noise behind some bushes. I am all for a WML, carry one every day, however I also have a Surefire in my pocket for the rest of the time.

Just my .02

My mistake. Kimber Ultra/ Blackhawk CQC 02 Colt 1911C is the pairing. I quoted the wrong holster.

I have my full size Colt listed on my CCW, so far the only think I've carried in public is my G43 pipsqueek. Honestly I think I need to buy bigger pants, but I figure if I size up I'll just eat enough to fill those too.

I'd love to carry the 1911, or even the G19, I just haven't figured it out yet.

So I once in awhile carry my Sig 229 .40 and have a variety of carry options such as the crossbreed and a fanny pack. I'm a medium sized guy so I can carry it well with out standing out and most of all feeling comfortable with the carry. I frankly am of the opinion that most of the public is oblivious to what anyone else is carrying so it is all about YOU being comfortable and body aware. Keep Calm and CCW on...

I'm coming around slowly to that line of thinking Dave, but we've been brainwashed and conditioned here in Kalifornia and I'll admit it's had an effect on me. Certainly not on my CCW or 2A views, but on worrying about what others will say and do if they see my sidearm.

I carried a Full size Kimber TLE for years but now I have switched to a Colt Commander Elite, IWB holster and a Ruger LCR as back up. Both of those combined are still lighter than the Kimber.

Don't let those fools brain eff you my brother. You have jumped through a gang of hoops to exercise your birth right, so just assume that they assume that you aren't carrying and it is all good. I have a 1911 that I've always wanted to carry. Maybe next renewal which is 2 years out if they really have the 5 gun thing going I will get it put on my permit. I was in Washington State early this year care giving for my Gramps and carried a Tok TTC with my Washington State CCW which is almost the same size as a 1911. I used a cross breed type holster for that carry and was comfortable. I didn't carry with one in the chamber as I read a bunch of advice from the internet gun guru brain trusts advising what a terrible idea it was to carry a TTC and to never carry with one in the chamber. I was happy to carry the TTC as it is expendable (under $250 from J&G sales) and utilitarian. It is my defacto out of state carry at this point although I am more of a wheel gun slut. For me the bottom line is I carry when I can, whatever I can and kind of blend in wherever I am.

I carry a full size Beretta IWB, and it is rather comfortable. I think the consideration when carrying relates more to weapon weight than weapon size, since the right holster can make you "almost" forget you are packing.

Pocket carry is all the rage in Texas right now.
Haven't tried jogging yet though.
But even in Texas, unless it is accidental, it is illegal to show someone your conceal carry. If they construe it as threatening, you could be in trouble.

I carried a full size Kimber TLE II in a Blade Tech inside waist band holster for the first time today, all day. It felt pretty good. I don't mind carrying it more in the future.

Get a quality holster, you should be fine.

I Carry a Para Ordnance P-10 everyday in a paddle holster. I prefer a paddle because of ease taking on and off. Have my Para Ordnance P-14 on the same permit. I'm not sure I have ever carried the P-14 due to its size, maybe once or twice. The P-10 is plenty of a pain in the *** to conceal as all handguns are in daily movement in public. The full size is concealable, but with even more effort and constant focus to be unseen.

I've got my 5" LB CC, 4" DW Guardian and 3" EMP on my permit. Carried the LB almost all winter and now I've moved on to the DW. Single stacks conceal nicely the weight has never bothered me and they are a lot of fun to shoot

I've carried my full size SA 1911 Mil-Spec a few times. Pretty comfortable to carry actually.

How did you find the 92FS to carry? I'm considering buying one to add as my backup EDC. I like my 1911, I don't like the 7 (8) round capacity though.

Default Me too.

For me the guns I enjoy shooting are my 1911s, so I carry what I like to shoot.
Right now my Sheriff allows 4 pistols, 3 of mine are 1911s.

Colt XSE full size 45acp.
Kimber Custom Tactical 2 45acp, figured I would have at least one lightweight.
Kimber Eclipse in 10mm.

Since 1911s are flat, for my body I can carry discreetly.

Yeah compact guns may be slightly more concealable, but for me I want something that if I do have to draw my gun that my rounds will land on target.

With 1911s you get both function and fashion, what's not to like?

I carry LB SRP in Milt Sparks VM2 on Wilderness Instructor belt. I think the key to carrying a heavy gun is balancing the weight with mags (good holster and belt given).

I weight 135 lbs and only 5'4".
