How do you carry extra magazines?
Just got my permit and started carrying. All the guns on my permit are semi auto's and I want to carry an extra magazine but I don't want to just stick it in my pocket. I'm afraid if I do that it will get a bunch of pocket lint in it and not function properly.

They have these things called "mag pouches/carriers." Here's a couple of examples...
Lots of adjustability on this one... http://www.comp-tac.com/magazine-pou...ag-pouch-10622 Soft carrier that will fit a wide variety of mags...so one mag carrier can be used for multiple guns. Great for range work too. https://www.tacticalholsters.com/pro...carrier-short/

I'm a shorts and t-shirt kind of guy. And I hate untucked t-shirts. Carrying something like those tactical magazine pouches would kind of defeat the whole concealed carry concept.

I just stick them in my pocket. If my shorts have the little pocket for a flashlight/mag I'll stick it in there, otherwise....just the pocket. Never really had a lint problem with the extra mags.

Now lint in your CCW gun? Thats a WHOLE different story there. Generally a weekly download and blowout with compressed air is a good idea.

How about one of these? It keeps it in ur pocket, but held by a clip and shouldn't get lint in it

I don't always carry an extra mag (gun holds 10 plus one in the chamber at all times), but when I do I use a horizontal mag carrier. Clips to my gun belt.

Personally for pocket carry I like these, over the snagmag. http://www.desantisholster.com/MAG-PACKER
I already carry a knife or two, and don't want to look like I'm carrying more than one. |

Leather horizontal mag pouch. Does not look like a mag pouch if you carry single stack mags. Could easily pass for a knife pouch.
I use this one extensively. https://www.amazon.com/Black-HMC-2-9...dp/B00HIIV9IY/ It is very comfortable, and I attach my Streamlight Protac 1AA to one of the straps, resting on top. I probably have 25 mag carriers of all styles including snag mags, but the horizontal pouches get the most use by far. You can also make your own snagmags if you are handy with Kydex. Me too. I'm hoping to learn from those who've done it longer than 2 days. 😎

Spare mag (Shield) goes in the left front pocket, indexed with the rounds pointing forward. Blow out the mag and gun with canned air once a week. Cycle the ammo through both carry mags every trip to the range.

I carry a revolver on most days. Pockets work well during cold weather when I'm carrying a semi-auto. |

Op tucks his shirts, so I don't think this would be subtle enough, at least not for CA... |

I just drop it in my left pocket.
I have gotten in the habit of turning my pocket inside out, after the laundry, and shake out any lint, just in case but never noticed any. Other than orienting it correctly so you don't have to fumble with it during a reload, nothing else is required. |

Yeah this whole CCW thing has me calling all manor of my old man dressage into question. I haven't tucked my t-shirt into my shorts yet, but I'm sure I've committed other fashion sins just as bad.

Yeah it's hard enough to conceal in SoCal as it is since we wear light clothing. I try to avoid looking like the stereotypical gun aficionado when I go out.

Anyway, the more I carry, the more I find myself preferring comfort as opposed to carrying a full loadout. No extra mags for me most of the time. |

My wife cannot go untucked.
She wears a cover garmet. Fortunately she dresses "western" so a vest is fine with her. I started wearing A-shirts under untucked T-shirts for CCW comfort. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk |
