I'm sure you're next. They are probably working on different stacked batches of applications. You might get called tomorrow.

Well, I got that email (just not what I was expecting):

"Good morning,* we will email you when within the next month with an update since you are not due to expire until May."

Maybe that means "when to pickup?" And the wait continues...

that's cool that they are giving pick up dates closer to expiration date so you don't lose much time and money for previous 2 years.

Once approved you are set. Just wait for an email closer to original expiration date per Yolamda.

That would be my guess. Different people (from OCSD) are using different verbiage. Some are speaking more clearly than others, telling folks they're approved but now need to wait since they're still a ways out.

Took my renewal training on the 8th and 10th March - (shooting on the 8th, classroom on the 10th), and submitted my completed application on the evening of the 10th.
Received request for business license on Saturday the 19th, exchanged e-mails with investigator evening of the 19th. (They were working late almost 10pm) received notice it was being forwarded to the Lt.

By the way if the price for the requal quoted above is accurate that is a bargin. I paid almost double.

Just wondering why did it take 2 days for your Re-qualifications?
If you did it for Renewal, it only should have been 4 hours and not 2 days?
The 2 days was for new CCW- 16 Hours. That's why there was a big cost difference.

Technically, it can, it just has to be at least 4 hours.

Quote:
c) For license renewal applicants, the course of training may be
any course acceptable to the licensing authority, shall be no less
than four hours,
and shall include instruction on at least firearm
safety and the law regarding the permissible use of a firearm. No
course of training shall be required for any person certified by the
licensing authority as a trainer for purposes of this section, in
order for that person to renew a license issued pursuant to this
article.

It took two days because the school I attended uses Prado for the shooting portion, so I went out and shot the requal with their regular Sunday CCW class.

The renewal classroom session was then held on a Tuesday night. That is how it worked out. Still only 4 hours and the re-shoot, just done differently.

You should have them clarify what their comment meant. Did it mean you're approved, but since you still have plenty of time they'll get back to you, or did it mean it's pending or what.

I'm thinking it's the former, but it would be reassuring if they gave you a straight answer.

I think it's best to give them a call and ask for clarification on the email sent to you. Nothing to loose. You just want to clarify if you have been approved.

I think I know who you used. A friend and I almost took his class but decided to go back to FTA because of the cost.

My guess is your right.

FTA is a great place to train, they are one of my three favorites, along with All Safe and Artemis. At $80 with lunch you really can't do better than FTA if the schedule fits.

Approved for renewal yesterday (had to confirm the vague email sent a week or so ago).

Next step is pickup appointment. Like everyone else, they stated they will contact me for pickup.

It means you're approved on the condition that you get your training done. Get your training, submit your cert and they'll contact you with a pickup date (or at least an email saying they'll get back to you with a pickup date.)

I used a scanner app on my phone and emailed. I'm guessing this is for a renewal or initial permit?

Some 30 plus on the list, but with a couple of additions the original 3 are still a good call. Note the earlier post that FTA is charging $80. My guess is it helps they have their own range and training room.

Renewal.

If people are looking for initial training I can't recommend TJ Johnson of All Safe Defense highly enough.

Geez, what do you guys eat normally? I did the fta for my ccw and the absolute worst part was the lunch! Sat was two crappy hot dogs, bag of chips and powdered lemonade. Cost=$1.10. Sunday was soggy pepperoni pizza. Cost=$0.95. I brought my own lunch on Sunday.

Don't take this class because you think added lunch is a benefit, I thought it was more dangerous than the first time shooters.

If your #s are correct that works out to $ 2.05 in free food so the cost of the class is $77.95 good deal however u look at it
