Interesting thread.

I just got done fighting a court case similar to this. The first questions asked were why didn't we call before the other guy. Well for starters we were in a dead zone with no signal for any of our phones.

Case finally tossed out but ya, it seems like they place a lot of value on 1st call and not actual happenings.

Very interesting and good to know that I did the right thing by dialing 911 immediately, then promptly contacting the Sheriff and submitting my official statement.

I'm still waiting to hear if I can share any details here.

In Orange Co, the rule on notification is (emphasis is mine):

"Should the license holder display or utilize the concealed weapon for which the license has been
issued, the license holder shall notify the CCW Licensing Unit in writing. Written notification shall
be provided to the CCW Licensing Unit within five days of the original date of incident and outline
the circumstances resulting in the use of the weapon.
"

I'm thinking that the five days should be enough time for an attorney to help craft a notice.

Maybe. Then again when I asked the detective who was present when I picked up my renewal if they had had much negative interaction or any issues with VC CCW holders his response was "not that I know of"....I'm sure there has been some, but I get the feeling that "we" are not a problem for them.
