NRA Carry Guard Question
NRA Carry Guard
Anybody look into this Product? It appears to be another CCW insurance product, have any of you compared it to the other CCW insurance products out there? I’m not the smartest cookie when it comes to insurance, any insight would be appreciated.

I signed up. It is basically the same as other products in price and coverage except that it has a training component (online videos included, face to face for a fee which hasn't been rolled out yet). I went for the most expensive membership as it has the most coverage (which is likely still not enough if found liable in a civil court) and the most cash advance to cover bail etc. It is the NRA's product doncha know I have a couple of other things I pay for which cover my professional liability related to firearms. I hope that all of this coverage is never exercised. A thing to remember, no insurance policy can cover criminal convictions/acts so until the DA decides to not follow through on charges or you win the criminal case, the plan will not be helping you. Be the good citizen that you are and follow the law to the letter. When I was working in another life if there was an OIS you got three things: 1) Another Officer who had been involved in a shooting 2) A chaplain 3) A POA rep. You were allowed to not talk about the incident other than say "There are/are not outstanding suspects" without a POA rep present. You also needed to turn over your tool so that a possible round count could be made to ensure that no neighbors had caught a hot one somewhere. This is all from memory and likely not current, but a good place to start. Other more modern folks please chime in.

That's the thing I notice, seems like most people have coverage from more than one insurance company. I'm hoping the NRA coverage would be a single policy that would cover everything. After all, I've only got auto insurance though one company and feel covered....

That's what I'm thinking, and the fact that it covers my wife as well is a good point. Just hoping some smart insurance types chime in, with some simple English explanation I can understand.

Basically there are two risks related to CCW. The first is criminal, protecting you from accusations of a bad shoot. Second is civil. When the bad guys loving family sues you because his life of crime was their only means of support. CCW insurance typically defends you for the first but not the second. CCW insurance provides legal representation to hopefully prove you didn't commit a crime. Homeowners and in my case a big umbrella cover me from civil liabilities from a good shoot but not from a bad one.

From what I've read and heard, it is an insurance policy, which means the will be out of pocket for all costs until you are found Innocent, then you get reimbursed.

Different coverage for different situations. I also like the spouse coverage. So for the price of a daily "hand crafted coffee" you can get coverage, I'm in. Sent from my LGLS775 using Tapatalk |

It looks good, I dropped my previous NRA endorsed policy. I don't trust USCCA or any of the other ones, you don't have your own policy with them, and I doubt they will pay when that bad day comes. I just joined Carry Guard.

He adds some with the addendum, but with carry guard spouse is fully covered, no mention that with uscca you do not have an individual policy, you have access to up to 30k immediately for a retainer, you can pick any lawyer you want, civil defense legal fees are included.

Basically op, ask the company's directly for info Uscca does currently offer no out of pocket and household members covered while at home. They are also the only ones I've seen that have come forward with proof that they pay out with cases you can Google

Carry guard covers spouse anywhere and family members inside the house. I personally don't like the idea that the policy is not my policy but a group policy through a "membership". To each his own.

Not too thrilled with the NRA carry guard, they only provide 20% upfront, the rest gets reimbursed, maybe. What's the point of getting a million dollar policy if I still have put up $800,000 of it. If I had that kind of money laying around I wouldn't need insurance to begin with. USCCA fronts all of it, 100%

I'm starting to feel a little leary about CG. I signed up about a month ago and never received a confirmation email. I tried to log into my account and I got a screen saying my information was incorrect, so I called. According to the rep, the system deleted the "c" of the ".com" at the end of all the emails. Because of this, no one can log in. This was supposed to be fixed a week ago. Things seem sketchy to me. I initially wanted to log in so I could cancel, but there's no way to do this. Anyone else have this same issue?

None of them pay more upfront. And none pay 1 mil on criminal. Also CG pays entire civil defense and it doesn't count on million. Quote:

I don't know, but it seems like, if they are not going to be on the hook, for civil or criminal judgments, how motivated are they going to be to spend "unlimited" funds to defend you? After all, what do they have to loose? With my home owners, and auto insurance I always opt for high limits, thinking if the insurance company could be on the hook for a huge settlement, that they will spend what is necessary to protect themselves, and in turn protect me. This all just makes my head spin...

You owe it to yourself to compare with Armed Citizen's Legal Defense Network. And the best part is that you are covered in a self-defense situation whether or not a firearm was involved. i.e) fight, or other assult. This is key! - https://armedcitizensnetwork.org/lea...lan-comparison
