Default Abbreviations commonly used in this forum

IA -- Issuing Agency

SO -- Sheriff's Office

PD -- Police Department

CCW -- Carry Concealed Weapon

LTC -- License To Carry

PC -- Penal Code

AFS -- Automated Firearms System, DOJ's database of guns and gun owners

"going G" or "declaring G" - Penal Code allows cities to make an agreement with the county Sheriff that all LTC apps for a city will be handled by the County; before the renumbering of the Penal Code for 2012, that was listed as 12050(g); it is now 26155(c).

Here are some more - please feel free to edit, redact, recycle, incorporate and delete entire post, et cetera, as appropriate.

SOL = Statute Of Limitations
vSI = Virtual Shall-Issue
This one doesn't get a lot of use. It mostly refers to elected Sheriffs who have policies that are quite lenient in some aspect of issuing; I think Sacramento is a good example. // Librarian
GMC = Good Moral Character
GC = Good Cause
UOC = Unloaded Open Carry
LUCC = Locked Unloaded Concealed Carry (locked container / trunk)
LOC = Loaded Open Carry
PLOC = Permitless Loaded Open Carry
"Two Weeks" = indeterminate bureaucratic delay, possibly forever
"[firearm] is in Jail" = Euphemism for the 10-day waiting period
"To Jail / Put in Jail [a firearm]" = Commence 10-day waiting period

DROS = Dealers Record Of Sale (California requirement)
4473 = ATF form filled out prior to commencing DROS
C&R = 03FFL, collector of Curios and Relics
CoE = Certificate of Eligibility (issued by CA DOJ)
LEO = Law Enforcement Officer
CLEO = Chief Law Enforcement Officer of the appropriate jurisdiction (city or county)

PRK = The Great State of California
5150 = Nucking Futz, see Welfare & Institutions Code § 5150 (usually prohibited for 5yrs per W&I § 8100)
BOHICA = SSDD

And SB can be San Bernardino county or Santa Barbara county. Don't use SB because not everyone is in San Bernardino.

You forgot San Benito County.

OC: depending upon context can mean Orange County, Open Carry or Oleoresin Capsicum (the active ingredient in pepper spray)

CA9: the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals of the federal judiciary

SD: depending upon context, can mean San Diego County, the City of San Diego, or self-defense
