Default TV as monitor

After I finish my move to Vegas I will have 2 Sony XBR-65X750D TVs. In my PC I currently use an ATI FirePro 2460 to drive 2 24” Acer monitors.

I am thinking of using one of the 65” TVs as a monitor. The TV can do 3480x2160. I assume the vid card can drive the TV with no problem.

In the physical setup my face will be about 30” from the screen. Will this be ergonomic hell?

My TV is about the same size and I use it as a monitor I'm about 8 feet away on a couch and it works great. At 30 inches you will probably be moving your head to see side to side and up and down.

I will try it first. If I find my self going to bed with neck pain I will find a way to move it farther away.

I am sure the chart is to optimize viewing of video, not reading text. I tried the TV on a PC but the video card could only do 1080x720. The text was readable from normal TV viewing distance. I will be driving the TV at its native 3480x2160. Makes for smaller text. I may need to be closer.

I have two 48” 4K Vizios that I use as desktop monitors....probably about 24” from my eyes...they work great and I’ve never felt that they were “too’” big or awkward to use in any way...no neck or eye strain either.
