Default Lost Another Range

Just heard that Jackson Arms in South San Francisco will be closing down on September 30th. Getting harder to find a place to shoot in the Bay Area.

I loved that place. Guys pretty cool 90% of the time. Allowed rapid fire. landlord kicking them out? I'm pretty sure they made descent money.

My guess is that they are being kicked out. Would like to know the truth though. It's too bad. One of the only places that allowed rapid fire.

Lines at the ranges are only getting longer these days. Sad to hear another closing.

They own the building and the owner is retiring.

My guess is since they own the building they can make as much money or a lot more renting the building out for other uses and make more money on rent than they do operating a range.

Sad but not surprising that they are closing, especially if it's true that they own the building and can make more renting out the space than operating the business.

So, where will people from SF and the Peninsula go to shoot now? Probably Richmond. San Mateo is probably too restrictive; rifles only at night, no handguns unless you're a member and then only on weekends. And, Metcalf and Livermore are probably too far.

Reed's in Santa Clara, Sunnyvale Rod & Gun Club in Cupertino, Los Altos Rod & Gun Club in Los Gatos, Target Masters in Milpitas (Don't flame me I'm just listing locations).

Forgot about Reeds which would be a good indoor alternative for people from SF and the Peninsula.

It's a toss up IMO between Metcalf and Cupertino in terms of location & convenience of access but Los Gatos is really a PITA to get to; don't see many people going there unless they already live in the South Bay.

Most SF/Peninsula residents don't like driving across the Bay to begin with but I don't see SFers going to Milpitas when Richmond is closer and has more shooting options and when they can go to Reeds to shoot indoors w/o crossing the Bay. Peninsula residents also have no reason to drive to Milpitas to shoot at Target Masters when they can just go to Reeds instead w/o crossing the Bay.

This is sad to hear. I only shot there a few times and it was an ok experience. Convenient when I'm picking up family from SFO to kill time. Although I never bought a pistol there, prices seemed fair, at least compared to South Bay ffls such as Reed's and BA Gun Vault.

Closing up shop is like giving in to California. I know it’s not the case but so sad for them to go. Great guys and the best place to go in the peninsula to shoot and buy

Disappointing. I really liked Jackson Arms. Good prices too!

if you guys can got some cash laying around or can line up some investors its not too late. I almost purchased the place couple years ago but he wanted too much money and I ended up purchasing a commercial property. The owner wanted to keep it as a range but no one was interested at his price, but he also did a poor job of spreading the word that it was for sale also.
